2012 Women's soccer schedule released

ALVA, Okla. - Head soccer coach Kasey Mahaffey has announced her schedule for the 2012 season which features 10 home and eight road contests. The newly anointed Mahaffey will begin her tenure over the Lady Ranger program in Wichita, Kan. under the lights at Newman University on August 30. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Northwestern will begin its home schedule on Friday, Sept. 7 against Sterling College. The match will be the first in a stretch which sees the Lady Rangers playing eight of nine matches in Alva. Near the end of the stretch, the Lady Rangers will play their first-ever Great American Conference match against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 23.

The Lady Rangers are coming off a 6-11-1 season in 2011 and will play nine more conference matches with four of those at home including the season finale versus Harding on Oct. 28. Other home conference opponents include: East Central (Sept. 28), Southern Nazarene (Sept. 30) and Ouachita Baptist (Oct. 26).

Other non-conference home opponents include: former Sooner Athletic Conference foe Lubbock Christian (Sept. 20), Texas Woman's University (Sept. 9), Northeastern State University (Sept. 14) and Emporia State (Sept. 18).

Northwestern will play non-conference road matches on Sept. 3 contest at Bethany College and on Sept. 11 at Nebraska-Kearney.

Northwestern will play two scrimmages, one against Northern Oklahoma College on Aug. 19 and the other against Hutchinson Community College on Aug. 23.
