1999 NAIA National Championship Team
The 1999 NAIA Championship Football Team won the school’s first NAIA National Championship, as they did so in a 34-26 win over Georgetown College (Ga.) on December 18, 1999 at Jim Carroll Stadium in Savannah, Tenn. Despite trailing 20-0 at the half, Northwestern put up 34 unanswered points to come from behind and take the win.
Six players from the squad earned NAIA All-American honors. The team was ranked first in the nation in rushing offense with 325.6 yards per game and second in total defense (219.0 yds./game) and rushing defense (37.5 yds./game).
Northwestern’s perfect 13-0 record proved to be the best in school history.
