Rangers Exact Revenge Against Oklahoma Baptist

Location: Crain Family Stadium, Shawnee, Okla.
 
SHAWNEE, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State took the road for the second straight week, and came away with a big win against Oklahoma Baptist, which was also the first in history over the Bison.

Individual Leaders
  • Runningback Jacob Peyton had his second straight week of 100+ yards rushing as he scampered for 137 this weekend.
  • Reid Miller got back on track in the passing game this week as he tossed six touchdown passes and amassed 285 yards through the air. Not only did he throw for six TD's he ran for one as well.
  • Both Dashawn Gordon and Riley Hess were the two preferred targets near the goal line this afternoon as Miller targeted each of them twice in the endzone.
  • Maurice Wright Jr. had a fantastic day on defense as he collected 14 total tackles and came away with an interception and a fumble recovery as well.
 
Game Changer
  • In a matter of just eight and a half minutes, Oklahoma Baptist jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead, but Northwestern found their footing pretty quickly.
  • Before the end of the first quater, the Rangers found the endzone themselves, making it 21-7.
  • The visiting Rangers scored again a few minutes later, making it 21-14, but the Bison put another score on the board at the 7:37 mark to make it a two-score ballgame again.
  • By the end of the half, the Black-and-Red were able to collect another touchdown, making it a seven-point game at the break.
  • Quickly out of the halftime break, the Rangers took control of the game, putting up four quick TD's on the hosts, making it a 48-28 game in just nine minutes.
  • The Bison would try to battle back a little, but it wouldn't be enough as the Rangers would come away with a 13-point victory.
 
News & Notes
  • Today's win over OBU was the first time the Rangers have defeated the Bison in their history of playing each other.
Up Next
Northwestern will play host to Southern Nazarene next weekend in Alva which is set for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
