Athletic Department Mission Statement
Northwestern Oklahoma State University's (NWOSU) Athletic Department sponsors a comprehensive athletic program that provides a positive environment for athletic competition, academic rigor and leadership development.
NCAA Membership:
Northwestern Oklahoma State Athletics is a NCAA Division II member-led organization focused on cultivating an environment that emphasizes academics, fairness and well-being across college sports. The Rangers are represented by 13 NCAA sports along with rodeo as part of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.
To get the most out of college, student-athletes have to sucÂceed on the court and in the classroom. The NCAA provides opportunities to learn, compete and grow on and off the field. The ultimate goal of the college experience is graduation, and college athletes are graduating at rates that are higher than ever.
With so much changing in college sports, rule changes are focused on improving the student-athÂlete experience. The NCAA is committed to providing a fair, inclusive and fulfilling environment for student-athletes and giving them a voice in the decision-making process.
In 1906, the NCAA was founded to keep college athletes safe. The Association is still working hard to protect them physically and mentally. Through its Sport Science Institute, the NCAA provides recommendations and guidelines to ensure college athletes are getting the best care possible.
NIRA:
Preserving Western heritage through collegiate rodeo", has been a theme repeated over the course of fifty years. Today these efforts are being made through over 100 college rodeos a year, over 3,500 student members annually and 137 member schools and universities.Â
Northwestern is a member of the Central Plains Region and hosts its own rodeo every year.
