Rangers Fall in Final Regular Season Game in Weatherford

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Northwestern Volleyball took the road in the final regular season match of the year where they were looking for their 21st win of the season, adding on to the school record, but were held up, falling in straight sets (25-21, 25-21 and 25-19).

It was a tough night offensively for the visitors as there were no Rangers in double figures in kills. Jennifer Eubanks led the effort with seven total kills and 9.5 points. Leading the charge in assists on the evening was Kiauna Clark who added 20 helpers.

With her second dig on the night, senior Libero, Carley Geer was officially crowned the single season all-time digs leader with 402, taking the place of Alina Fierro in 2014.

Northwestern started out the game in command, but the home squad Bulldogs came back with a vengeance after trailing 13-9 and took four straight points to tie it back up.

From that point on, the Rangers and the Bulldogs were back and forth until the home team reached 17 and never trailed from that point on, taking the set, 25-21.

Set number two wasn't much better for the Rangers as they were put in an early deficit and the hosts never surrendered the advantage.

The last time the Rangers held the lead in the second game of the match was at 5-4, but from then on, Southwestern controlled the momentum and eventually took the set by four points for the second straight set.

The third game in the rivalry game started out in the Rangers favor as they had a bounce in their step. The score reached 8-5 in favor of the visitors, but the Bulldogs notoriously came back again with seven-straight points to take an 11-9 lead.

Four straight points by the Black-and-Red brought the Rangers back all the way and then some, leading 12-11. It was a fantastic set from that time on as the teams started trading point for point.

At 20-18, it was a rally for the ages as the Rangers and Bulldogs weren't willing to give up a point, but after a minute or so, the Rangers eventually surrendered the point as the hosts took a three-point lead.

Following the big point, Northwestern was only allowed one more point before falling in the final set, 25-19 and the match 3-0.
