Lady Rangers Post 98 in Road Win, Most Since 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team defeated Oklahoma Christian on the road in Tuesday night action by a final score of 98-84. The 98 points scored by the Lady Rangers is the most points scored by the program in a single game since the 2013-14 season.

The prolific scoring night was led by a pair of freshman in Kinsey Neiderer and Bailey Brown, who totaled 23 and 21 points respectively to pace Northwestern (5-4, 2-2 GAC). Neiderer's 8-of-15 shooting from the field that included five three pointers in eight attempts matches her season high while Brown's 21 stands as the most she has recorded this season.

Junior Jade Jones posted her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 assists to guide a Lady Ranger's offense that made a season high 30 field goals for a 44.8% (30-of-67) final total. Freshman Selena McDonald grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds while nearly reaching double-double status with nine points.

Northwestern led by as many as 19 early in the fourth quarter and led for nearly 37 minutes of the contest. Oklahoma Christian (1-8, 0-1 Heartland) narrowed the Lady Ranger lead to just five points with 1:52 remaining in the second quarter, before five points in the final minutes of the half from Neiderer doubled the lead back up to ten before a lay-up with four seconds left on the clock brought the halftime advantage back down to just eight with the score at 45-37.

Both teams traded blows with two three pointers made a piece in the first few minutes of the second half before seven unanswered points from the Lady Rangers to close out the third quarter extended their lead to 71-58 moving into the final quarter of play. Northwestern continued to tack on points with a three pointer from Neiderer, followed up by a lay-up and later a free throw make from McDonald before Oklahoma Christian finally ended the 13-0 run by Northwestern at the 8:47 mark of the fourth quarter.

That key run propelled the Lady Rangers ahead 77-60, and the Lady Eagles failed to get the deficit back into single digits for the remainder of the contest as a balanced scoring attack kept the Black-and-Red at a comfortable distance.

Junior Bailey Forell rounded out the four scorers in double digits for the Northwestern offense with a season-high 13 points. Guard Jakeria Otey and center Amani Davis each chipped in eight points to the effort as well.

The win serves as a positive bounce-back after a tough opening road series the past weekend in Great American Conference play for the team as they will now turn their attention's to another non-conference road tilt against Newman University on Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
