ADA, Okla. - Northwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball win their last match of the regular season in high fashion, taking down the Tigers of East Central University in four sets [25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19].
Northwestern went up early in this match, as they shot out to a six-point lead, 13-7, and led the whole way to a first set victory 25-18. Â
The Tigers came out hot, leading the Lady Rangers up until the halfway mark of the second set. East Central had firm control of the lead 11-17, but Northwestern would fight their way back up to tie the set 21-21. The Black-and-red would complete the second set comeback to go up 2-0 in the match.
Tigers would put a halt to the Lady Rangers sweep bid, as they would control the lead the entire third set. Northwestern would get down by a few points and fight to tie the match, but East Central would have a spurt of their own. East Central would win the third set 23-25.
A determined Lady Ranger squad came out ready, and finished the match winning the fourth set 25-19.
The Lady Rangers defense would hold the Tigers to a .155 hitting percentage compared to their .234 percent. Junior, Jennifer Eubanks would lead the team with 14 kills along with Kiauna Clark who put in 12 kills of her own. Senior Tobi-Rae Barker would put up a match-high 22 digs also.Â
As the 2018 regular season comes to a close, Lady Rangers volleyball is all but over as they look to make a run in the Great American Conference Championships in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Northwestern will go up against No. 1 Harding University, Thursday, November 8. Game times are to be announced.
