SHAWNEE, Okla. - It was a battle this evening in Shawnee, Okla. where the Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team fell in overtime to the Lady Bison of Oklahoma Baptist (13-11, 8-10 GAC).
Four separate Lady Rangers finished the night in double figures, but
Kinsey Neiderer was electric as she knocked down seven total jumpers on the evening, four of which were three pointers. Not only was she solid from the field, but also from the charity stripe, knocking down all four of her attempts.
Selena McDonald (13),
Jakeria Otey (12) and
Jade Jones (11) were the others to finish in the double figures. Jones not only scored the ball well, but was once again fantastic in dishing out the helpers as well, recording seven assists.
The Lady Bison opened up the scoring in the hotly contested game with a three pointer, but the Rangers would then go on a 9-0 run to take a 12-3 advantage.
Oklahoma Baptist started to right the ship however as in just over three minutes they cut the lead to four at 20-16, but the Rangers pushed a little more before the end of quarter one, making it a five-point lead at 24-20.
The first five points of the second quarter went to OKBU, cutting the Lady Ranger lead entirely, tying it up at 24 a piece.
It became a back-and-forth seesaw battle after the beginning of the second however as the two teams traded buckets for a few possessions until the visitors once again went on the offensive, netting 13-straight points to put the hosts in a 13-point hole.
Northwestern continued to battle it out with the Green and Gold clad Lady Bison and came out on top in the first 20 minutes of play, 44-35.
The second half was obviously very competitive between the two teams, as the Lady Rangers controlled the game in the first half, the Lady Bison decided to counter that with a quality half of their own to bring it all the way back to a tie ballgame.
OKBUÂ outscored the Black-and-Red in the third by six points and did just enough in the fourth to bring it back to an 80-80 deadlock, which is where the game in regulation would finish.
Overtime turned out to be all Oklahoma Baptist unfortunately for the Lady Rangers as the Lady Bison posted an impressive 18-point performance in just five minutes of play. Northwestern was only allowed nine points in OT, leading to the OKBUÂ 98-89 victory over the Black-and-Red.
