MONTICELLO, ARK. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team ended a four game losing streak as they got a big road win against the University of Arkansas Monticello.
The Ranger offense came alive early in this one as they got out to an eight-point lead just five minutes into the game. Northwestern would continue to stay on top most of the first quarter and it was not until late in the second quarter that Arkansas Monticello would get a lead. The second half was all Northwestern as they were able to get the lead to as many as 14 points. Monticello would cut it down to eight in the final minutes but that is as close as it would get as Northwestern would go on to win this one 70-62.
Kinsey Neiderer led the Ranger offensive charge with 21 points knocking down six three pointers.
Selena McDonald pitched in 16 points of her own going six for eight from the field as well as grabbing 12 rebounds.
Jakeria Otey gave the Rangers a spark off the bench as she poured in 11 points going a perfect four of four from the free throw line.
Destinee Robinson would round out the scoring with nine points.
This win put Northwestern in a three way tie for the eighth and final spot in the Great American Conference tournament with six games left to play in the regular season. The Rangers will do battle next with one of the three teams they are tied with as they take on the Mule Riders of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia Ark. Saturday at 1 p.m.
