ALVA, Okla. - It was a good day for softball in Alva, Okla. where Northwestern Oklahoma State hosted Henderson State in doubleheader action, where the two teams battled their way to a split on day one.
GAME 1
There were lots of hits in the first game of the afternoon where the Rangers recorded nine hits, while the visiting Reddies had eight of their own.
There were three different Red-and-Black players who had two-hit games in
Madi Parrott,
Madison McGraw and
Audrey Estes.
Henderson State got on the board first, scoring a run in the first frame on a ripped double to center field. the run gave the Reddies an early 1-0 advantage.
Northwestern made their way across the plate in the bottom half of the second inning where Estes doubled home McGraw who reached on a single through the left side earlier in the inning.
HSU was quick to strike back though, going up a score again, in the third inning, 2-1.
With her second double of the contest, Estes brought around
Brittany Corrales and McGraw to bring the advantage to 3-2 in favor of the home team.
In the top of the sixth, the score was knotted up again on a sacrifice fly to left field, but the Rangers prevailed in their final at bat. With the bases loaded in the seventh,
Macy Madewell was hit by a pitch, bringing around Parrott for the go ahead score, taking the first of the series, 4-3.
GAME 2
The hits didn't come quite as easy in the second of the twin bill as no Ranger was able to collect more than a single hit in the game.
The scoring didn't come quite as easy either as there were just five runs scored in the entire game.
Henderson State started out the scoring first again, plating a run in the first inning on an error, going ahead 1-0.
The next three runs to cross were also the Reddies, all three of which came in the third inning, two runs on two doubles and an RBI groundout to second base.
It wasn't until the final inning that the Rangers were able to score. Parrott roped a double to left center, scoring Peytong Garrett on the play, but the one run was all the home team could put on the board, falling in game two, 4-1.

Northwestern will host Henderson State for two more contests tomorrow to decide the series. The first game of the day will begin at 11 a.m.
