WICHITA, KS – Northwestern Oklahoma State University traveled to face the Jets of Newman University, sweeping the Jets in very hard fought sets, 25-21, 26-24, and 25-22. 

Despite a sweep, the Lady Rangers had a fought to win each and every set, coming back from a couple deficits shows that the black-and-red know how to battle through adversity and stayed composed.

Hannah Williams headlined the first set, leading the team with 5 kills. The team had a slow start being down 9-6, but the senior leadership of Williams came in when they needed it most. Williams guided the Lady Rangers to a 16-13 lead. The Jets stood their ground on home turf, as they scored four straight points tying up the game at 17-17, but Northwestern gained the lead once again and did not look back. Finishing the first set 25-21.

A back-and-forth fight to start the second set, the winner of this was going to earn it the hard way. Despite the Jets leading the Lady Rangers in kills, 18-8, Northwestern proved they were ready for the challenge. The black-and-red battled adversity falling behind near the end of the set 19-14. Minutes later, an attack error gave the Jets the lead 23-24. Northwestern flipped a switch and scored three straight to put Newman away winning 26-24. Going up in the match 2-0 and gain a little more momentum heading into the third set.

The Lady Rangers looked like they found the rhythm going into the last set to complete the sweep as they controlled the lead throughout the set. The black-and-red, behind Hannah Williams 12 kills and Kaitlyn Robinson's 22 assist night,  completes a 3-0 sweep over the Jets.

Northwestern moved its record to 5-0 on the season. The Lady Rangers have a long road trip before they come to play in Percefull, as they look forward to the Gorilla Classic Tournament in Pittsburg, Kan., this weekend. They will first take on Cameron August 31, at 11:00 a.m. in John Lance Arena.
