ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State University women's soccer suffered a 6-1 setback at the hands of rival Southwestern Oklahoma State University Tuesday evening at the Alva Rec Complex. The Rangers (0-4-1, 0-1 GAC) opened the scoring just seven minutes into the contest, but the Bulldogs (3-2-1, 1-0) countered with six unanswered goals to take the game 6-1.
Junior Priscilla Villalobos gave the red-and-black an early advantage when she drove home her first goal of the season in the 7th minute off a pass from Clarissa Hinojo. Finding themselves ahead 1-0, the Rangers looked to continue the pressure against a talented SWOSU lineup.
After Southwestern standout Sandra Nabweteme evened things up in the 21st minute, she tallied her second of the game eight minutes later to give the visitors a 2-1 edge. Alimata Rabo added scored with just one second remaining in the first half to send the Rangers into halftime trailing 3-1.
The Bulldogs' Jasmine Heffley made it 4-1 in the 70th minute before Rabo (two goals) and Nabweteme (three goals) each added another tally as Southwestern went ahead 6-1.
Brittany Cirnigliaro tested SWOSU's Steffi Silvera in the 84th minute, but her shot was turned aside by the senior netminder to keep it a five-goal deficit.
Reagan Allen faced 25 shots (11 on net) in the game and would make five saves on the night.
Northwestern will have a quick turnaround as they are back on the pitch Thursday, Sept. 20 for a 6 p.m. matchup with in-state Great American Conference foe East Central University at the Alva Rec Complex.
