Missouri Southern State University
Northwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball went 2-2 at the MIAA-GAC Challenge, and finish with a pair of wins on the last day defeating the Missouri Southern State University Lions 3-1 and Fort Hays State University Tigers 3-0.
The Lady Rangers overcame a seven-point deficit, being down 7-14 to begin the first set against the MSSU Lions. Northwestern went on an 8-1 run that shifted the momentum from the Lions to the lady Rangers. The teams would go back-and-forth for scoring down the stretch, but the black-and-red took over scoring the last five points of the set, winning set one 25-21.
The second set was all Lady Rangers as they pulled in front with a 9-2 and had control of the lead all the way to end. Northwestern dominated the second set, winning 25-15. Freshman Kaydee Honeycutt had a team high seven kills along with the team hitting a .296 clip.
With a sweep in the making the Lions had a different agenda and would not let the Lady Rangers win so easy. Tied up at 15-15, the Lions went on a 9-3 run, stealing the third set 18-25. The fourth set was same score different outcome. Senior Hannah Williams led the with posting seven kills and two blocks as the Lady Northwestern finish off Missouri Southern 25-18, winning in four sets 3-1.
 Fort Hays State University
The Lady Rangers finish out the MIAA-GAC Challenge with a sweeping victory over the Fort Hays State Tigers. All three sets were close knit affairs; the first set was back-and-forth until the Tigers tied it up 13-13. A timeout by head coach Jeremy White gave the black-and-red a chance to regroup and provided them with a momentum shift.
Redshirt-junior Kiauna Clark led the team with four kills and sophomore Kaitlyn Robinson provided 7 assists to give Lady Rangers a first set win, 25-21.
Tied at 4-4, Northwestern scored five straight points to give them a little breathing room, but the Tigers would not go away that easy. Down the final point stretch both teams would go point for point trying to control the lead, but thanks to a Jennifer Eubanks block Northwestern would shift the tide and go up 2-0 in the match, winning 25-23.
To complete the sweep over the Tigers, the Lady Rangers would half to finish out the third set and that is just what they did. Despite Fort Hays getting out to an early 0-4 lead, Northwestern turn things around quickly and put together an array of kills that gave them a sweep, 25-19.
The Lady Rangers walk out of the MIAA-GAC Challenge splitting even winning both their games on Saturday. As they finish their last tournament of 2018 season, they will look to build their conference record up, sitting at a (10-4, 0-1 GAC) record. Northwestern will have their debut in front of Percefull Fieldhouse September 11 at 7 p.m. against Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
