Lady Rangers Return Home for Two games

ALVA, Okla.- The Lady Rangers went on the road last week and split their games between Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Monticello. The red-and black will enter the week sitting at 7-5 overall with a 3-3 Great American Conference record putting them in eight place in the conference. NWOSU will have two games this upcoming week against Henderson State on Thursday January 9th at 5:30 pm and Ouachita Baptist Saturday January 11th at 1:00 pm.

The Lady Rangers are led by head coach Tasha Diesselhorst who is in her fourth season with Northwestern who led Northwestern to their first conference tournament appearance since joining the GAC last year.

NWOSU has two players in double-digit scoring in Kalea King and Bailey Brown. Brown averages 16.2 points per game and senior, King averages 14.2 a game. The junior forward Brown leads the team in rebounds with 8.1 followed by King with 6.1 boards a game.

Henderson State Reddies: Thursday 5:30pm (9-3, 4-2)
The first opponent of the week is Henderson State as they come in at 9-3 overall with a 4-2 Great American Conference record has them tied for second in the league along with Arkansas- Monticello, Southwestern, Arkansas Tech and Southern Nazarene.

Henderson is led by Jill Thomas who is in her sixth season as the head coach who holds a record of 84-86 at the program. In her nine-year career she is 149-134. 
The Reddies come into Alva on a three game win streak including two over GAC opponents Oklahoma Baptist 84-73 and Southern Nazarene 71-59. They are 3-2 in their last five with loses to Harding and Arkansas Monticello.

Henderson is led by senior guard Hailey Estes who is one of their three players averaging over double digits in points. She comes in averaging 14.7 points per game along with 9.8 rebounds. Karrington Whaley, junior forward, adds 13.3 points a game while bringing down 7.7 rebounds a game. Last is Pink Jones, a senior guard, at 11.3 points per game with 5 assists.

The Reddies, shooting is led by Hailey Estes a 38% 3-point shooter, and Lani Snowden who is a 50% 3-point shooter as they combine for 65 of the 103 made by Henderson.
Henderson is a different team on the road as they average 84 points at home while only 71 on the road, which is something the Lady Rangers will have to use to their advantage.

The Reddies lead the series 8-6 over Northwestern but the Lady Rangers have won the last three in Alva and three of the last five overall.

 Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers: Saturday 1:00pm (4-8, 1-5)
The Lady Rangers will close their week out with their Saturday early afternoon matchup against the Lady Tigers of Ouachita. They will come into the matchup 4-8 on the season and 1-5 in GAC play tied with East Central for 11th in the conference. Ouachita is coming off their first conference victory after beating Oklahoma Baptist on January 4th.

The Lady Tigers are led by head coach Robert Dallimore, who is currently in his first season with the program.

Ouachita comes into this one led by Eden Crow, junior forward who averages 11.6 points a game with 6.6 rebounds. Followed by Jakyya Clay junior forward averages 11.3 points per game. The Lady Tigers have two other players averaging double digits in Madison Brittain, and Maija Gertsone at 10.6 and 10.4 respectively.

The Lady Tigers lead the history between the two programs 8-6 after splitting last season's games. Northwestern took the game in Alva 71-60. The last 10 matchups it is even 5-5 and in the last five games Northwestern leads 3-2.
