Lady Rangers Look for Revenge This Week

Alva Okla. – Northwestern is coming off a final seconds win over East Central, when Bailey Brown hit the go ahead layup with 2.6 seconds left in the game to win 68-67. The Lady Rangers will enter the week with two in state games one at home against archrival Southwestern at home in Percefull Fieldhouse. Then the team will turn around and travel to Durant, Oklahoma to take on Southeastern. The Rangers will look to avenge both teams after losing to them once this year.

The Red-and-Black will go into Thursday's game sitting at 11-11 on the season, and 7-9 in the Great American Conference. Northwestern currently sits in ninth place in the conference trailing both Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello for the eighth and final playoff spot.  

Northwestern is led by head coach Tasha Diesselhorst who is currently in her fourth season with the University. She led Northwestern to their first conference tournament appearance since joining the GAC last year. She currently holds a 45-65 record with Northwestern. 

Senior Kalea King and junior Brown are leading Northwestern in scoring with 14.5 points per game. Brown is the team's leading rebounder with 7.8 rebounds per game, with King and Hillary Hurst grabbing just over five rebounds a game as well. Kyleigh Leverich gets 2.7 assists per game. 

Southwestern (15-7, 10-6):

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Alva with a 15-7 record, with a 10-6 in conference record. Southwestern sits tied for fifth in the Conference with Henderson State.  

Southwestern is led by head coach Kelsi Musick who is in her 11th seaosn with the program with a 206-115 record. Musick has won the last two GAC coach of the year awards. 

The Bulldogs are 14-2 in the history of these two teams since 2012, including winning the last seven games. Southwestern stole the first game this season when the teams met back on January 16th. Both teams had a wide variety of scoring with Northwestern having five double figure scorers, while Southwestern had four. Hurst led Northwestern with 19 points. SWOSU's leading scorer also had 19 in Maddie Sperle.  

Makyra Tramble is one of four double digit scores and leads Southwestern in scoring with 14.7 points per game. She is followed by Maddie Sperle with 12.1, Tyra Aska at 10.9 points and lastly Taber beer with 10.5 per game. 

Southwestern comes into the game winning three of their last four games overall. However, they have lost four consecutive games on the road entering Thursday night's game and are 4-6 overall on the season.

At Southeastern(15-5, 12-4)

 The Lady Rangers will travel to Durant, Oklahoma for Saturday's game against Southeastern university. The Savage Storm come into the game with a 15-5 record on the season with a 12-4 conference record has them sitting tied for 1st place with Harding.
 

Darin Grover is the head coach of Southeastern, in which he has led the program for 15 years. Grover has a 228-183 record with with the Savage Storm. He has won one GAC coach of the year award in 2014-2015. 
 

The Storm is 11-4 overall  against Northwestern including a 14 point victory this season 68-54 back in December. Southeastern is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams. 
 

Southeastern is led by Katie Webb who is one of three double digit scorers for the Storm. Webb leads with 18.8 points a game, she is followed by Kamryn Cantwell at 15 points per game, and lastly Briley Moon at 10.5 points per game.Webb is the team's leading rebounder as well with 7.7 per game, followed by Moon with 5.3 rebounds per game. 

Northwestern seeks revenge on Southeastern Saturday, as the Storm won the first meeting 68-54. Katie Webb led all scorers with 19 points in the first meeting where King was Northwestern's leader with 14 points in that game.
