Rangers Win Conference Opener 3-1

Box Score ALVA, Okla. – The Rangers pulled out a four-set win over East Central (25-17, 25-18, 19-25, 25-21) on Wednesday night at Percefull Fieldhouse. Northwestern improves to 2-0 (1-0 GAC) while the Tigers fall to 0-1 (0-1 GAC). 
 
"I felt that we played great at certain aspects of the game but there is no doubt we have work to do in a few others." Head Coach Fred Aubuchon said.
 
"I'm really happy with both our setting and our blocking tonight." He adds. 
 
"Also, kudos to Coach Lindsay and East Central, they are very improved from last season."
 
Northwestern's statistics were somewhat similar to the numbers they recorded in their season opener against the Falcons. The Red-and-Black finished with two players in double-digit kill numbers: Kaydee Honeycutt and Kate Deterding
 
Honeycutt finished with 17 kills, nine digs and four blocks. She finished with a .333 attack percentage. 
 
Deterding grabbed another double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. She blocked the Tigers three times and finished with a .158 hitting percentage. 
 
Sydnee Miller held down the defense behind 20 digs while Avery Osburg distributed 32 assists, three kills and three aces. Ravyn Burns blocked nine attacks and finished with five kills. Carmae Jones, a freshman, added seven blocks with four kills.

SET 1: Northwestern finished on top of the Tigers 25-17. Honeycutt chipped in five kills and Miller snagged four digs. Osburg assisted her team seven times and the Rangers finished the set with a .143 attacking percentage. Thalianette Garcia led the Tigers with four kills. 
 
SET 2: Once again the Rangers were successful over the Tigers after the second set, 25-18. Deterding racked up five kills while Miller dug the ball six times. Osburg tallied up 12 assists and Burns blocked two opponents. The Red-and-Black finished the set with a .214 attacking percentage and 20 digs, their best of the night. 
 
SET 3: The Tigers took set 3, 25-19. They held the Rangers to a low .069 attacking percentage. East Central was led by Garcia and Kemyra Landry with four kills apiece. Alejandra Delgado finished with seven digs and Sydney Dungen tallied 11 assists. Leading Northwestern was Honeycutt with four kills. Burns finished with five blocks and Osburg had five assists. 
 
SET 4: The Rangers defeated the Tigers in the final set of the night, 25-21. Deterding and Honeycutt held it down for the Red-and-Black with five kills apiece. The team finished with a hitting percentage of .205 and 18 digs. Osburg snagged eight assists and Miller chipped in five digs. Northwestern finished with six team blocks and Jones earned three of them. NWOSU defeated ECU 3-1 after four sets.
