ALVA, Oklahoma- Northwestern played host to Harding University Saturday afternoon looking for their second straight win. The Bisons would use a strong first quarter going up 21-0 to carry momentum throughout the game leading to a 73-14 Harding win.
Harding improves to 8-1 on the season pushing Northwestern to 1-8 on the year after Saturday.
Offensively Northwestern was led by Tanner Clarkson in the passing game with 163 yards total with one touchdown in the afternoon. Darian Gill finished the game with 50 yards and a touchdown with his longest run, an 18 yard gain. Romello Bentley caught the receiving touchdown for the Rangers on a 34 yard touchdown. Nathaniel Briscoe led the team with 35 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball the Red-and-Black were led by Wacey Williams and Alejandro Aaron with 12 tackles on the afternoon both with five solo and seven assists. Aaziah Flores finished with 10 tackles in the afternoon. The Rangers forced one turnover on the day, recovering a fumble in the Bisons territory.
The Bisons got the scoring started in the first quarter with a 10 yard rushing touchdown following a 10 play opening drive to take a 7-0. Harding would take a 21-0 lead at the end of the opening quarter following a 34-yard touchdown by Spicer.
The Bisons would extend their lead in the 2nd quarter with three touchdowns in the quarter and a field goal to go into halftime with a 45-0 lead over the Rangers.
Northwestern would score their first touchdown in the third quarter on a 11 yard rush to the outside to conclude a nine play drive for the Rangers. Harding would hold a 59-7 lead over the Rangers at the conclusion of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter Tanner Clarkson would connect with Bentley on a pass down the right side for a 34 yard touchdown completion to finish off a 10 play 90 yard drive midway through the fourth quarter.
Harding would complete the win over Northwestern with a final score of 73-14 on Saturday.
The Rangers will be back in action on Saturday, November 6th as the team travels to Russellville, Arkansas to take on the Wonder Boys of Arkansas Tech for game 10 of the season.
