ALVA, Oklahoma- Northwestern Oklahoma State Lady Rangers return to conference play Saturday afternoon against Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm in Percefull Fieldhouse. The game is set to tip-off at 1:00 PM between the two teams.
The Rangers (4-5 overall, 0-3 Great American Conference) will look to carry momentum in from Tuesday night's non-conference victory. The Savage Storm (3-6 overall, 1-2 Great American Conference) is coming off of a 15 point loss to Oklahoma Baptist. Southeastern enters the weekend 10th in the conference with the Lady Rangers in 11th.
Northwestern is led offensively by Bailey Brown with 16.3 points per game as the Lady Ranger double-figure scorer. Closely behind her, Andi Pierce averages 9.5 a game, followed by Kinsey Neiderer and Scout Frame with 9.2 points each. Northwestern averages 75 points per game for seventh in the conference. The Lady Rangers have been sharing the ball at a high rate as Northwestern averages 14.3 assists per game for third in the GAC. Carly Craig leads the team with 34, which is third in the conference. Brown is second on the team with 18.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Lady Rangers are third in three-point field goals made with 78 and a percentage with 34.1 as a team. Kinsey Neiderer leads the team with 23 on the season in 43 attempts for 53.5 percent, a conference-best.
The Red-and-Black have used rebounding to their advantage so far this year as the Lady Rangers rank second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 14.7 per game and fourth overall in the conference in rebounds. The Lady Rangers are first in the conference in a rebounding margin at 10.6. Brown leads the Rangers with 6.4 per game, followed by Scout Frame with 5.3.
Brown leads Northwestern on the defensive end with five blocks and 13 steals. Josena Frame leads the team in steals with 14 on the season. Craig and Kinsey Neiderer each have eleven on the season.
Scouting the Savage Storm:
Southeastern enters play on Saturday's matchup losing two of their last three games and their previous two on the road in conference.
The visitors come into the game led by Kamryn Cantwell on offense with a team-high 14.7 points per game, followed by Briley Moon at 14.4 points. Cantwell leads them in assists with 27, followed by Moon with 26 on the season. Their offensive firepower comes close to the Lady Ranges, making 31 percent of their three-point shots. Moon is shooting 40% in her 58 attempts, with Beason shooting 47.1 in 17 shots.
Southeastern's defense allows 63.3 points per game, with teams shooting 39 percent from the field. Moon leads the team with 14 steals on the year, followed by Cantwell at 12 on the season.
Northwestern trails the series history since joining the Division II era in 2013 15-5 after going 1-3 last season, winning the previous meeting in Percefull Fieldhouse 73-65 as the Lady Rangers look for the second straight win over the Savage Storm in Alva.
