Lady Rangers Set for Conference Game in Ada

Alva, Okla.- Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's basketball team will look to even their conference record Saturday afternoon as the team is set to travel to Ada for a conference game against East Central.  

Northwestern comes into the matchup winners in three of the season's last four games. The Lady Rangers have found success through their offense as the team averages 80 points a game which is suitable for the 13th most in Division II. The offense has been led by senior Bailey Brown, averaging 19.2 points per game on 60% shooting from the field. Andi Pierce is second on the team with 9.5 points per game on 43.2% shooting. She has found success at the foul line as well, shooting 91.2% from the charity stripe. Carly Craig has run the Lady Ranger offense with 29 assists through the opening six games for 4.8 per game leading Northwestern. Kinsey Neiderer will look to continue to find success from behind the arc as she leads the team with 14 made three's on 50% shooting from deep.

The Red-and-Black defense has been great as well through the opening six-game as the team averages just 57 points per game, good for second in the Great American Conference. Through the season's opening six games, the Rangers have 81 steals, good for 13.5 per game, led by Josena Frame with 11 and Craig with 10. Northwestern also has 14 blocks for just over two per game on the young season.

Northwestern has helped use their defense to take advantage of the glass with 30 defensive rebounds per game, ranking second in the conference and 29th in Division II. The rebounding has been widespread as Brown leads the way with 21 on the season, followed by Kinsey Neiderer and Craig with 18 each in defensive rebounds. Overall rebounding Brown leads the team with 37, followed by Camille Thomas with 26.

Scouting the Tigers:

After dropping their last two games on the road, the Tigers come into the Saturday game with a 3-2 overall record. This past Thursday, East Central opened conference play at Southern Nazarene, losing 68-56 in their conference opener.

East Central comes into the game averaging 73.2 points per game. Madison Rehl leads the team, averaging 15.8 points per game, followed by Kate Ogle, who has found her success from behind the arc, shooting 60 percent from three 15-25. Izzy Cummins is the final Tiger averaging double figures at 11.4 points per game and has found some success at the foul line shooting a perfect 12-12. Rehl has also taken charge of the offense leading the team with 17 assists in the early going, followed by Mackenzie Crusoe with 15.

East Central averages 30 rebounds per game as a team which is 12th in the GAC conference. Crusoe leads the team with 32 on the year for 6.4 per game, followed by Alexis Lyons with 3.8. Their defense ranks third in the conference on allowing 59 points per game. Crusoe leads the team with 11 steals on the season, as Ogle leads with five blocks.

The Lady Rangers will look to snap a four-game losing streak versus East Central. Last season, the Tigers won all four matchups to complete the season sweep one year after the Lady Rangers swept East Central. Northwestern will look to find that success again on Saturday afternoon.
