Lady Rangers Drop Final Game to ECU

ADA, Okla. – The Lady Rangers finished behind the Tigers 58-62, at the Kerr Activities Center during the first round of the Great American Conference Tournament. 
 
The Red-and-Black finish the 2020-2021 season 6-14 overall and 4-13 in the Great American Conference.
 
"I thought we defended really well the first half, but our turnovers in the second half really hurt us down the stretch." Head Coach Tasha Diesselhorst said.  
 
"I'm disappointed that our season came to an end tonight, but this group has grown a lot and I'm excited about the future."
 
"We played a lot of freshmen who gained quality experience that they can build on." Diesselhorst added.
 
Northwestern finished the contest with three players scoring double figures: Bailey Brown, Scout Frame and Kes Reeves.  
 
Brown posted another double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. She also tallied a block, two steals and six assists. Brown finished shooting 6-for-12, 2-for-4 from deep and 4-for-4 from free throw range. 
 
S. Frame went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line, 3-of-8 from the field and 1-for-2 from the three-point line. She scored 14 points, snagged seven rebounds, assisted her team one time and stole the ball from the Tigers once. 
 
Reeves finished with 10 points and one rebound. She shot 3-for-5 from the three-point line and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line. 
 
Jarah Whitfield grabbed eight rebounds and scored seven points. She also recorded a block and finished shooting 2-for-7 from outside the arc. 
 
Josena Frame scored five points, stole the ball from the Tigers once, tallied three assists and grabbed five rebounds.

FIRST QUARTER
Kendall Schulte hit the first score of the afternoon from deep outside the arc to immediately put the Tigers up by three points. Whitfield fired back the Lady Rangers first deep score at the six-minute mark. Brown rolled in a layup that was assisted by Lizzie Shephard at the three-minute mark, followed by an outside score from J. Frame and two free throws from S. Frame. Brown scored the final two points of the quarter after she rattled in two free throws. East Central stayed ahead of the Red-and-Black by two points to end the first 10 minutes of play. (14-12, ECU) 
 
SECOND QUARTER
Brown drilled a three pointer to open the second quarter, followed by inside scores from Whitfield, Shephard and Kynsey Dixon. Whitfield rattled in a deep score at the five-minute mark to put the Lady Rangers ahead of the Tigers by eight points. Brown splashed another three pointer at the two minute mark and S. Frame scored from inside to keep a double digit lead over East Central. Reeves closed out the first half with a three pointer to head into the locker room ahead of ECU by 11. (31-20, NW)
 
THIRD QUARTER
Ella Schultz rolled in a layup to open second half scoring for the Tigers. Brown, S. Frame and J. Frame all hit inside scores during the third quarter. Reeves scored from outside the arc to keep Northwestern ahead going into the final quarter. (48-44, NW) 
 
FOURTH QUARTER
S. Frame drilled the eight of 10 points that Northwestern scored in the final quarter of their 2020-2021 season. Brown scored the last points for the Lady Rangers but unfortunately East Central was able to pull out a 62-58 win over NWOSU to advance to the second round of the GAC Tournament. (62-58, ECU)

The Tigers improve to 10-8 overall and 9-8 in GAC play, they will advance to the next round of the GAC Tournament. 
 
Hannah Ladd finished shooting 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from the three-point line. Ladd recorded 13 points, three rebounds and one steal. 
 
Madison Rehl shot 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and scored 12 points. Rehl tallied four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. 
 
Schulte scored 10 points off of 4-for-9 shooting from the field and 1-for-1 from free throw range. 
 
Izzy Cummins recorded nine points, one steal and two rebounds.
