Rangers Shutout in Series Opener

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern was unable to get things going in the first game of the series against Southeastern on Sunday evening at Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium, falling to the Savage Storm 2-0.

With the loss, the Red-and-Black fall to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the Great American Conference.

Yugo Hamakawa led the team with three hits. Dylan Norsen connected on a pair of hits and Brett Erickson had the other hit for the Rangers.

Scott Creedon tossed all 9.0 innings and allowed seven hits, two runs, striking out four, and surrendering three walks; with the loss, he falls to 2-1 on the season.

Neither team could amount much through the first three innings, with Creedon and Jacob Potter would keep each of the offenses in check.

SOSU would manufacture their first run in the fourth inning with a leadoff walk and then two singles to take a 1-0 lead.

Southeastern would add another run in the sixth with a solo homerun.

Northwestern's best chance came in the bottom of the eighth innings when Norsen and Hamakawa hit back-to-back singles to center, before the rally ending by Potter picking off Hamakawa at second.

The series will wrap-up tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1 pm. The finale will follow shortly after the conclusion of the first game tomorrow.
