Northwestern Volleyball Wins 3-1 Against Oklahoma Christian

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Volleyball defeated the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian 3-1 (25-19, 26-24, 11-25, 25-17) Thursday night inside Percefull Fieldhouse. 
 
"Winning tonight against Oklahoma Christian was a great accomplishment." Junior, outside hitter Kaydee Honeycutt explained.
 
"Each of our individual efforts helped to produce the victory."
 
"The enthusiasm from our bench helps us play better on the court, and we couldn't be more thankful for them." Honeycutt added. 
 
Northwestern Volleyball improves to 6-4 overall and 3-4 in the Great American Conference. The Red-and-Black currently sit #8 in the nation for blocks per set.
 
Honeycutt led the Rangers with 20 kills, 21 points, two digs and two blocks. She posted a .457 attack percentage after defeating the Eagles with a 20-4-35 clip. Honeycutt is ranked #21 in the nation for kills per set averaging 3.97.
 
Kate Deterding tallied eight kills, 15 digs and 11 points. Deterding finished hitting .152 off of an 8-3-33 clip. She also two blocks, one assist and two service aces. 
 
Avery Osburg chipped in 41 assists, seven digs, one service ace and one kill.
 
Madison Dehlinger recorded an 8-2-25 hitting clip and a .240 attack percentage. Dehlinger posted 9.5 points, two digs, two assists and three blocks. 
 
Ravyn Burns blocked OC four times and finished with six points and four kills. Burns has buried her name into the national individual standings, she currently sits #31 in blocks per set. 
 
Sydnee Miller was all over the floor defensively, earning herself 30 digs. Miller also tallied one assist and two service aces. 
 
Tarra Parks dug the ball seven times and recorded six kills.

SET 1: (25-19, NW)
Northwestern scored first after Oklahoma Christian started the match with an attack error. The Rangers finished the first set victorious after they posted a 16-4-46 team hitting clip along with a .261 attacking percentage. The Eagles gave up five attack errors throughout the set while the Rangers only tallied four. Honeycutt led the Red-and-Black to a 25-19 set victory after recording seven kills. Dehlinger and Deterding both scored three kills apiece while Burns chipped in two. 
 
SET 2: (26-24, NW)
The Rangers earned their best attacking percentage of the night after posting .279% in the second set. Northwestern only gave up two attacking errors while the Eagles posted seven. Oklahoma Christian recorded 19 kills and NWOSU scored 14, but the Rangers were able to pull off back-to-back set wins after Honeycutt fired in six more kills to lead the Red-and-Black in the set. Deterding chipped in three kills, Parks and Burns both tallied two apiece and Osburg snagged one.
 
SET 3: (25-11, OC)
Oklahoma Christian took the third set after forcing the Rangers to give up 11 attack errors. The Eagles finished the set with their best hitting clip of the contest (11-2-32). OC posted a .281 attack percentage while Northwestern finished hitting -.118. The Rangers allowed the Eagles to go on an 11-0 scoring run, with five of the points coming from the Red-and-Black's errors. OC earned their first set win of the night after claiming a 25-11 victory.
 
SET 4: (25-17, NW)
Northwestern Volleyball secured the non-conference victory at home after defeating the Eagles 25-17 in the fourth set. Oklahoma Christian finished the final set hitting a game low .031%. The Rangers forced 10 attack errors out of OC while producing a 11-5-31 clip for themselves. Honeycutt finished the set with five kills while Dehlinger chipped in four and Parks added two. Deterding and Miller each recorded one service ace apiece. The final three points that secured Northwestern's win were due to errors from Oklahoma Christian.

Allyssa Hamlin led the Eagles with 12 kills, two blocks, a service ace and 14 digs. 
 
Talby Duerksen finished with 11 kills, three digs and two blocks. 
 
Kelsie Schiefelbein recorded six blocks, 10 kills and one dig.
 
Caitlynne Hudgens posted seven kills, one service ace, one block and 14 digs. 
 
Spencer Plato chipped in two kills, 14 digs and 24 assists. 
 
Brylie Berryman also had 14 digs. Berryman also had one service ace and four assists. 
 
Hannah Rouse earned three blocks and three kills. 
 
UP NEXT
The Rangers will travel to Bethany and face the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene on March 24 at 7:30 p.m.
