ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern dropped the series finale to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, falling 4-1 in five innings at the Ranger Softball Field at the Alva Recreation Complex.
The loss moves the Rangers to 7-16 overall and 2-15 in the Great American Conference.
Northwestern would have three hits in the game, one each by Mesa Gann, Kelsey Housley and Lindsey McElroy.
McElroy connected on a solo homerun in the first to account for the RBI.
Hannah Scoggin got the start, tossing her third straight complete-game in the loss, allowing four runs, three earned on 10 hits with two strikeouts.
The Tigers would score a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
McElroy's homerun would put the Red-and-Black back into the game in the bottom of the first, tying the game at 1-1.
OBU would score three runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead.
NWOSU would get two runners on in the bottom of the third but could not get a run in.
In the fifth inning, the Rangers would load the bases and again, Ouachita Baptist was able to get out of the jam. Northwestern was unable to mount a comeback during the final two innings, falling to OBU 4-1.
The Red-and-Black will host Southern Nazarene on Thursday and Friday in a three-game series. Game one is scheduled for a 5 pm start on April 1.
