Rangers Fall to SWOSU in Quarterfinals

WEATHERFORD, Okla. –  The Rangers fall in three sets (10-25, 17-25, 19-25) to the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State in the GAC Championship Tournament quarterfinals. 
 
"I'm very proud of all the effort these ladies put forth these past 8-9 months." Head Coach Fred Aubuchon said.  
 
"This is not how we wanted to end our season but, in the playoffs, you have to bring your best and unfortunately we didn't tonight."
 
"We will absolutely miss Sydnee, Avery and Kate moving forward." Aubuchon added. 
 
Northwestern Volleyball concluded the 2021 spring season 9-6 overall and 5-5 in the Great American Conference.

Kate Deterding led Northwestern with nine kills, eight digs, 9.5 points and one block. Deterding finished hitting .129 with a 9-5-31 clip. 
 
Kaydee Honeycutt recorded seven kills, one dig and one block. Honeycutt scored a 7-3-28 hitting clip and a .143 attack percentage. 
 
Tarra Parks finished with six kills, nine digs and six points. Parks finished hitting 6-2-17 with a .235 attack percentage. 
 
Ravyn Burns racked up three blocks, one kill and one dig.
 
Sydnee Miller led defensively with 11 digs. Miller also served one ace and assisted the Rangers once. 
 
Avery Osburg finished the contest with 20 assists, five digs and one block. 
 
SET 1: (25-10, SW)
The Bulldogs won the first set 25-10 after hitting .500 off of a 13-2-22 clip. Northwestern finished with a 7-7-24 clip, Deterding, Honeycutt and Parks all finished with two kills each while Carmae Jones recorded one. Emma Cohalla and Taryn Galt led the Rangers with four kills apiece. 
 
SET 2: (25-17, SW)
SWOSU hit .323 in the second set and was able to earn back-to-back set victories after forcing the Rangers to give up 14 errors. The Red-and-Black finished with a 15-14-65 clip and a .015 hitting percentage. Deterding and Honeycutt both recorded five kills in the set. Parks finished with four kills and Jones added one. Cohalla led the Bulldogs with eight kills and Nielsen recorded seven. 
 
SET 3: (25-19, SW)
Southwestern defeated Northwestern 3-0 after winning three straight sets over the Rangers. The Bulldogs finished the set hitting .174 with a 15-7-46 clip. The Red-and-Black finished hitting 11-7-42. Deterding recorded four kills, Honeycutt posted three and Parks finished with two. 
 
The Bulldogs will advance to the GAC Championship Tournament semifinals and face Harding on Saturday, April 10.
