Arkadelphia, Ark- The Rangers Football traveled to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to face off against the Henderson Reddies for their second game of the 2021 football season. The Rangers fell to the Henderson Reddies 55-7 after a solid offensive performance.
The Rangers came out strong and kept the game close in the first quarter with a score of 14-7 following a Gavin Garner touchdown. The Reddies had a total of 621 yards of the game as the Rangers rounded out with 227 total yards. Henderson State took the lead going into halftime 17-7 and kept progressing forward. Rangers drop to (0-2) of the season while the Reddies improve (2-0).Â
The Rangers starting Quarterback Tanner Clarkson had a total of throwing for 133 passing yards, including a 38-yard touchdown pass to Garner.
Gavin Garner completed the night with a total of 80 yards, 38 yards being his longest receiving pass, resulting in one touchdown to put the Rangers on the board. Torrance Stevens with 34 yards, his longest receiving pass of 25 yards.
Calion Baker collected 95 rushing yards on the 20 attempts as Damon Williams rounds out to 14 yards with four attempts.Â
James Ellis led with ten team tackles and eight solos with a total of 18 tackles, and Wacey Williams had eight team tackles and six solo with a total of 14 tackles.
The Reddies opened the game with a touchdown to get on the board first with a 16-yard touchdown run. The Rangers would counter that with a successful offensive drive that would lead to a 38-yard touchdown pass from Clarkson to Garner. Henderson State would answer back with a touchdown to go up 14-7 at the end of the opening quarter.Â
The defense came out strong in the second quarter as each team would trade points as the Reddies were the only ones to find points in the quarter following a field goal to put them in front 17-7 at halftime.Â
The home team came out of the break strong, forcing a Rangers turnover that they would capitalize on a short drive to extend their lead to 24-7.Â
Henderson State would carry the momentum throughout the half capitalizing on 28 unanswered points in the half to build their lead to 55-7 following a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.Â
The Rangers will look to bounce back next Saturday, Sept. 18th, as they travel to Shawnee to face off against the Bisons of Oklahoma Baptist University at 6 PM.
