A Four Goal Night From Campbell Leads to Fourth Straight Rangers Victory

Goodwell, Oklahoma- The Red-and-Black continued their winning streak with a big win over the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State this evening. The Rangers carried their momentum in from the win streak after sweeping their trip in Nebraska this past weekend. The Rangers pulled off their fourth consecutive win after the 5-1 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. The Rangers are now 4-1 on the season.

The Rangers earned their fourth consecutive win of the 2021 season. This marks the first time the Rangers have won four in a row since the 2014 season. The four goals scored by Campbell are tied for the most by a Northwestern player since 2003 when Sherina Wood scored four against Ottawa(Kansas).  

Rachel Brown started the game in goal for the Rangers finishing the evening with two saves on three shots faced playing all 90 minutes of the match. Tiara Campbell led the Rangers with four shots in the game all four fininishing with a goal. Faith Nino scored the Rangers fifth goal on her lone shot attempt of the night. Reilly Marks would finish with a shot along with an assist followed by Carlie Massingale with the other assist. 

The Rangers started the game strong by keeping the ball on the ground and moving it around. The intensity from the Rangers kept the bar high, helping lead to the games opening goal. The Rangers would score early in the match as in the 12th minute, freshman forward Tiara Campbell would give the Rangers the 1-0 lead on a goal assisted by junior Carlie Massingale. Campbell took the Aggie's goalie one-on-one and placed the ball in the bottom left corner of the net following the pass.
Campbell's goal would be the only one of the half as the Rangers went into halftime with the lead over the Aggies 1-0. 

The Rangers came out blazing in the second half, scoring multiple goals. Campbell scored an additional three goals in the second half. Sophomore Faith Nino scored her first collegiate goal for the fifth Rangers goal of the night.

Campbell scored her second goal at the beginning of the second half, which junior Cynthia Armas assisted. 

In the 58th minute of play, Aggies player Emily Elliot scored the lone goal for Oklahoma Panhandle State bringing the match to 2-1 before the Rangers took over the second half.

Campbell bounced back for Northwestern two minutes later to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead, which gave the Apple Valley native her first college hat trick! The goal was assisted by senior Reilly Marks. Shortly after, Campbell would score her fourth goal of the match during the 63rd minute to put the Red-and-Black up 4-1 over the Panhandle.

Nino scored the fifth and final goal for Northwestern in the 68th minute after taking advantage of the ball bouncing around in the Aggies six-yard box.

Northwestern would win this Wednesday match by a final score of 5-1 over Oklahoma Panhandle State University. 

The Rangers are finally back on their home field after completing this four-game road trip. Northwestern will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 18th, to face off against Oklahoma Christian at 7 PM.
