Lady Rangers Play Host to Ouachita Baptist Saturday Afternoon

ALVA, OKLA- The Lady Rangers will continue their three game homestand Saturday afternoon with the second game of the homestand. Northwestern will look for their sixth straight victory Saturday. Tip-off is schedule for 1:00PM in Percefull Fieldhouse. 

Northwestern Oklahoma State (8-5 overall 4-3 Great American Conference) enters Saturday's game on a five-game win streak, including four straight in conference play (Southeastern, Southern Arkansas, Arkansas-Monticello, and Henderson State).

On Monday, senior forward Scout Frame earned Great American Conference player of the week,for the second straight week a Lady Ranger earned recognition after Kinsey Neiderer earned it the previous week.

The Lady Rangers have used stifling defense helping lead to the win streak only allowing an average of 64 points per game while forcing 79 turnovers an average of 15.8 a game. The Red-and-Black are averaging 81.2 points per game during this stretch averaging 21.3 assists per game.

Northwestern's defense has been led in blocks Camille Thomas with seven on the season followed by Bailey Brown with six. Brown leads the team with 20 steals on the year followed by Josena Frame's 19, Carly Craig with 18 and Neiderer with 17, as the Lady Rangers rank 4th in the conference and 34 in the nation in total steals with 135. Northwestern is second in the conference for defensive points allowed with 61.4 a game.

The Red-and-Black rank 7th in the conference averaging 75.7 points per game. Brown leads the team with 17.8 per game on 53 percent shooting from the field as one of three double-figure scorers for the Lady Rangers. Brown has scored double figures in all but one game this season and has 20+in three of her last four. She is joined by S.Frame who scores 13.7 per game. S. Frame has scored 20+ points in four of her last five games. The third Lady Ranger is Neiderer at 10.3 points shooting 48.6 percent from behind the arc.

Craig leads the offense in sharing the ball with 55 assists on the season which ranks second individually in the conference and 39th in the nation for 4.2 a game. Brown joins in the conference top 10 as she ranks seventh with 36 to date. As a team, the Lady Rangers rank second in total assists in the conference and third per game with 15.1.

Scouting the Opponent The Tigers:

The Tigers (4-5 overall 2-3 Great American Conference) enter play Saturday coming off a 17 point loss to Southwestern. Ouachita Baptist does enter 3-2 in their last five games, and have lost four straight road games to date this season. 

Northwestern will look to slow down the Tiger attack which ranks in the middle of the conference in scoring averaging 81.6 points per game ranked fourth in the conference.

Ouachita Baptist is led in scoring by Aspen Thornton comes in averaging 27.9 points per game on 45% shooting from the field and 40.8% from behind the arc. She is one of three double figure scorers in Makayla Miller averaging 17.4 points a game followed by Laney Mears at 11.6 on 43% from three.  

The Tigers defense ranks second in three point defense holding opponents to 28% from deep. The visitors rank third in the conference in steals per game at 11.8 and sixth in total steals. They give up 73.8 points per game which ranks 10th in the conference. 

History:

The series is locked at 8-8 between the two teams dating back to 2013 when these two teams first met. The Lady Rangers have won three straight games over the Tigers including the last four in Alva.
