Box Score Alva, Oklahoma - Northwestern faced off against Ouachita Baptist in their second game of the week. The Rangers were swept by the Tigers 3-0. Addison Wimmer led in kills with 16. Wimmer also tied for lead in digs with Courtney Russell at 11. They were followed closely by Tarra Parks with 10. Cameron Lobb accumulated 24 assists.
Set One:
Ouachita Baptist started the match with back to back kills. The Rangers quickly responded with a middle kill from Carmae Jones. The Tigers fired back with a 4-0 run. Addison Wimmer powered through the block to leave Northwestern trailing 7-3. Cameron Lobb contributed a service ace and Wimmer fired off another kill. Ouachita responded with a 3-0 run to continue their lead 12-7. From the right side, Tarra Parks contributed a line shot kill. The Tigers responded with another 5-0 run to extend their lead 19-11. Wimmer contributed back to back kills to close the gap. Abree Elsheimer fired off another ace for the Rangers. The Tigers strung together another 3-0 run to take the first set 25-16.
Set Two:
The Tigers started the second with a kill and an ace. Northwestern responded with a deep kill from Wimmer which jump started a 3-0 run to tie the set 4-4. The two teams settled in for a point for point exchange. Ouachita started to pull away, stringing together a 3-0 and 2-0 run to lead 11-9. Jones fired back with a ten foot line kill from the middle. Wimmer contributed another deep kill to tie the game 13-13. Ouachita strung together two 3-0 runs to lead 20-17 and force Northwestern into a timeout. Parks contributed a kill to close the gap out of the timeout. Elsheimer added a line kill. Ouachita capitalized on Northwestern's errors to take the second 25-20.
Set Three:
Wimmer and Parks fought back in the third with a kill each. Elsheimer contributed a kill. Ouachita answered the call with a 3-0 run to lead 7-5. Lobb fired off a setter dump. Wimmer heated up with back to back kills to push Northwestern ahead 10-8. The Tigers quickly responded with a 4-0 run to regain their lead and force the Rangers into a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Tigers continued their momentum with a 5-0 run. Wimmer contributed a free ball kill and Elsheimer fired off a line tip to close the gap 18-12. The Tigers responded with back to back kills and a service ace to further their lead 21-13. Ouachita clenched the victory with a service ace at 25-13.
Northwestern takes a brief pause on competition with their next match being a week away on Saturday October 22 at 1 PM and 5 PM. The Rangers will host a triangular in Percefull against Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southwestern College.
