Alva, Oklahoma - The Rangers returned home for one of their last conference games of the season. Northwestern faced off against Oklahoma Baptist University and was swept. Addison Wimmer broke the school's record for most kills in a season passing the 413 mark previously held by Kaydee Honeycutt with her 14 on the evening. Cameron Lobb collected 27 assists and Andrea Coady accumulated 10 digs.
Set One:
Northwestern took an early lead against the Bison stringing together a 3-0 run. Oklahoma Baptist responded with back to back kills. Addison Wimmer fired off a ten foot line kill. Courtney Russell contributed a solo block to hold onto their lead 7-4. The Bison countered with a 3-0 run. The two teams settled into a point for point exchange. Oklahoma Baptist started to pull away stringing together another 3-0 run to lead 14-10. Carmae Jones fired off a middle quick. Wimmer contributed two kills to close the gap 18-16. The Bison fired off a solo block and kill. A middle quick allowed the Bison to take the first 25-18.
Set Two:
Oklahoma Baptist continued their forward momentum with back to back kills and a service ace to start the second. Tarra Parks powered through the block for back to back Ranger kills. Northwestern capitalized on Bison errors to take the lead 6-5. Abree Elsheimer fired off back to back cross shots to extend their lead. Jones contributed a middle quick. Oklahoma Baptist fought back with a kill. Jones fired off a solo block and Wimmer blasted down a ten foot kill to continue their lead 12-10. Northwestern strung together another 3-0 run to force the Bison into a timeout and extend their lead. Out of the timeout, Oklahoma Baptist switched the momentum, collecting another 3-0 run and retaking the lead 17-15. The Rangers fought back with a solo block from Jones. Elsheimer fired off a tip kill to close the gap. Wimmer contributed a cross court kill. The Bison responded with a middle kill to clinch the second 25-20 and lead the match 2-0.
Set Three:
Jones and Wimmer contributed a kill each to start the third. Oklahoma Baptist responded with a deep tip kill. Wimmer started to heat up, powering through the block and running a tandem to close the gap 6-4. Parks contributed an offspeed cross shot. The Bison did not let up stringing together an ace and back to back kills to extend their lead 11-6. Elsheimer countered with a kill. Russell fired off a kill from the backrow. Cameron Lobb contributed a setter dump to close the gap 11-9. Jones added in an additional kill from the middle and Andrea Coady fired off an ace serve. The two teams exchanged point for point, keeping the match close. A 3-0 run from the Bison forced Northwestern into a timeout at 16-12. The Rangers capitalized on Oklahoma Baptist errors to force the Bison into a timeout. Oklahoma Baptist responded with back to back tip kills. Parks and Jones contributed a kill each. The Bison fired off consecutive solo blocks to take the match 25-18.
The Rangers continue play in their last home match facing off against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday November 1st. Northwestern looks to extend their 7-7 conference record against their rival, the Bulldogs at 7 PM in Percefull.
