Alva, Oklahoma - The Rangers faced Southern Nazarene at home Thursday evening. Northwestern defeated the Crimson Storm 5-2. The Storm would be the first to score over the Rangers but the Rangers respond by scoring five more over them unanswered.
The Crimson Storm scored their first goal of the night in the opening seven minutes into the match. The Rangers respond seven minutes later when Isabella Mcmillan takes a free kick and scores on the bottom corner. With about ten minutes left in the first half, Gisselle Holguin beats the Crimson Storm defense to score the Rangers second goal of the night. To end the half, with six minutes left, Abby Nunez scores on an assist from Isabella Mcmillan.
To start the second half, both teams came out fighting and the Crimson Storm was able to gain a second goal within fourteen minutes off a corner kick.
With six minutes left of the match the Ranger freshmen found a way to concede their fourth goal of the night with Mikhaela Goen sending in a driven ball into the net putting the Storm keeper and defense in a pile. With forty-two minutes left of the match, Lily Anderson blasted a shot from forty yards out to finish off the game, finishing with a result of 5-2 over the Storm.
The result of tonight's match moves the Rangers to 5-4-2 on the season with a 2-2-1 conference record for seven points on the conference season.Up next, the Rangers travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma to play Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday October 8th and 12:00pm.
