Rangers Win Big in Home Opener

Alva, Oklahoma - The Rangers faced off against the Thunder in their first home game of the season. Northwestern was able to collect their second win of the season at . Manhattan Christian answered back to Northwestern at the start of the first but the Rangers were able to slowly pull away and lead the rest of the game. 
 

Jason Douglas-Stanley and Malik Parsons led offensively with 19 points each followed closely by Brian Free with 18 and Chance Love with 17. Love led defensively as well with 11 rebounds, picking up a double double for the night. Parsons also led in assists with 7. 

The Rangers take on the Aggies on Saturday November, 26th. Tip off against Cameron University is set for 3:00 PM in Percefull Fieldhouse. 
 

1st Half: 

Larry White opened up scoring for Northwestern with a layup. Manhattan Christian fired back with a layup. A free throw from Kennedy Milton and another layup from White allowed the Rangers to lead 5-4. The Thunder countered with a layup and three pointer to take the lead. Shavaul Butters fired off a layup with a beautiful assist from Malik Parsons. Manhattan Christian countered with a layup to extend their lead 11-7. 
 

Milton contributed a layup and Parsons sank back to back free throws to tie the game 13-13 with 13 minutes remaining in the first half. Parsons dribble drove through the land for another successful layup. Both teams reached a dry spell battling possession for possession without scoring. Manhattan Christian broke the silence with a deep three pointer to lead 16-15. 
 

Off the bench, Eric Hancik sank a free throw to retie the game at 16-16. Jason Douglas-Stanley fired off a three pointer. The Thunder answered back with a layup. Douglas-Stanley sank another three pointer to propel the Rangers into their largest lead of the night at 22-18. Douglas-Stanley picked a pocket for a fast break layup, accumulating the last 8 points for Northwestern. Marquise Milton contributed a right handed floater to propel the Rangers forward 26-20. 
 

Manhattan Christian countered with a three pointer from the top of the key. Parsons answered back with a steal and two handed slam to further Northwestern's lead. Brian Free got on the board by sinking a three pointer. Chance Love contributed a right handed floater to extend the Ranger lead 33-24. The Thunder countered with a three pointer to close the gap. Love and Parsons contributed a layup each. Douglas-Stanley and Free fired off a three pointer each to propel Northwestern to lead into the half 45-29. 
 

2nd Half: 

Free opened up scoring out of the break for the Rangers with a deep three pointer. Butters contributed a right handed layup and floater. The Thunder responded with a three pointer to trail 52-31. Parsons fired off a three point play and Free sank another three pointer. Off the bench, Hancik contributed a layup to push Northwestern ahead 60-37. 
 

Manhattan Christian countered with a three pointer and layup to close the gap. Douglas-Stanley answered back with a layup and back to back three pointers to force the Thunder into a timeout. Love fired off a three point play after getting fouled on a dunk to extend the Ranger lead 74-42. 
 

Northwestern continued running with a layup from K. Milton. The Thunder countered with consecutive three pointers to close the gap. Parsons countered with a layup and a dunk. Free extended the lead to 40 by sinking back to back three pointers at 89-48. Manhattan Christian responded with a three pointer. Off the bench, M. Milton contributed a dribble drive layup. Love fired off another layup to further the Ranger lead 95-51. 
 

The Thunder responded by sinking back to back free throws. Off the bench, Shamon Martin got an offensive rebound and contributed a put back. Kobe McGowan sank back to back pairs of free throws to ensure the Northwestern victory at 103-54.
