Ada, Oklahoma - The Rangers hit the road for their last regular season game of the year and were swept. Northwestern ends the regular season with a 7-9 record. Addison Wimmer accumulated 10 kills, Cameron Lobb captured 21 assists, and Andrea Coady collected 11 digs followed closely by Tarra Parks with 10.
Set One:
The Tigers took advantage of their home court on senior night by starting the match with an ace and a kill. The Rangers fought back with a block from Carmae Jones. East Central responded with an early 4-0 run to take the lead 6-1. Addison Wimmer fired off back to back kills for Northwestern. The Tigers quickly countered with another 4-0 run to extend their lead 12-4. Jones contributed a ten foot line kill from the middle. East Central continued stringing together points with back to back ace serves furthering their lead 19-6. Wimmer powered through the block for another kill. Tarra Parks contributed a line kill. The Tigers continued to push forward taking the first set 25-12.
Set Two:
Wimmer started the second set off with a big kill. East Central countered with a 9-0 run to lead the second 9-1. Cameron Lobb fired off a setter dump to break the Tigers momentum. East Central strung together another 5-0 run to extend their lead 15-4. Courtney Russell and Brooke Miller fired off a kill each to close the gap. The Rangers continued to capitalize on Tiger errors. Jones contributed a middle kill to leave Northwestern trailing 17-10. East Central responded with a 6-0 run to take the second 25-13 and lead the match 2-0.
Set Three:
Parks started the match with a tip kill for Northwestern. Jones fired off a soloblock. The Tigers fought back with a line kill and ace serve to lead 4-3. East Central continued to string together points and extend their lead. Off the bench, Miller contributed a kill for the Rangers. Jones powered through the block to close the gap 10-6. The Tigers countered with a 3-0 and 5-0 run to extend their lead 18-8. Russell ended their streak with a kill from the middle. Wimmer contributed a tandem kill from the middle. Russell fired off an ace serve to close the gap on East Central 20-15. Lobb contributed a kill. Wimmer heated up with a kill and solo block. The Tigers responded with a tip kill to sweep the game 25-21.
The Rangers advance to the Great American Conference tournament, ranked seventh. Northwestern is set to face off against Oklahoma Baptist at 12:30 PM in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Thursday November 10th.
