Rangers Fall in Home Season Finale

Alva, Oklahoma - The Rangers faced off against the Wonder Boys of Arkansas Tech during Northwestern's homecoming weekend. The team fell short, losing to Arkansas Tech 45-20. Quarterback Ethan Everson led his offense throwing for 206 yards. Brian Holiday led the defense, collecting 12 tackles in the game. 

1st Quarter: 

The Wonder Boys captured the first touchdown by stringing together multiple rushes. After their completion of the extra point, Arkansas Tech established an early 7-0 lead. Northwestern quickly responded with a 36 yard completion pass from Ethan Everson to Chase Davidson. Everson strung together multiple other passes before finishint the drive off with a Ranger touchdown from Kobe Washington. The completed extra point from Connor O'Neal tied the game 7-7. The Wonder Boys fired back with another touchdown and extra point to retake the lead 14-7. The Rangers countered with a pass completion from Everson to Torrence Stevens for a 73 yard touchdown to re-establishing a tie at 14-14. 

2nd Quarter:

Arkansas Tech started the second quarter with a 40 yard rush and first down. The Ranger defense stopped the Wonder Boys from gaining another touchdown. However, Arkansas Tech kicked a 43 yard field goal to once again lead the game 17-14. The Wonder Boys extended their lead with a 35 yard touchdown and a completed extra point to lead 24-14. Northwestern responded by stringing together multiple passes but coming up short to trail at halftime 24-14 after Arkansas Tech held the Rangers scoreless on the final drive before the half. Everson threw for 200 yards in the first half of play. Brian Holiday and Wacey Williams accumulated 6 tackles each. 

3rd Quarter:

Northwestern closed the gap on the Wonder Boys with a 5 yard rushing touchdown from Gill after a drive led by Jared Barnett. The extra point was not completed and the Rangers continued to trail 24-20. Arkansas Tech responded with a touchdown and extra point to extend their lead 31-20 at the end of the quarter. 

4th Quarter:

The Wonder Boys continued the offensive push with another rushing touchdown and extra point early on in the quarter furthering their lead 38-20. Arkansas Tech collected multiple rushes for another touchdown with three minutes left in play. The completion of the extra point allowed them to clinch the win at 45-20. 

Northwestern hits the road for their final conference match of the season against Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The game will be held in Weatherford and kick off is set for 3:00 PM to close out the season.
