Rangers Win Battle Over Harding at Home Saturday to Close out Senior Day

Alva, Okla. - Northwestern defeats Harding University on senior night 100-94 in a high scoring thriller. Both teams battled back and forth the entire game. With the win, Northwestern closes out the Rangers sweep over Harding on the 2022 season.

The Rangers add to their win streak advancing to a 19-7 overall record with a 14-6 conference record. The Bison fall to a 4-16 conference record and a 6-20 overall record. 

Malik Parsons led Northwestern in points with 25 followed by Brian Free with 15. Parsons shot 9-10 at the free-throw line with a 90% shooting percentage followed by Anthony Jones who shot 8-9 from the line. Larry White led in rebounds with 9 and steals with 3. Brian Free also led in assists with 9. The Rangers outshot The Bison from the foul line with an 87% shooting percentage. 

1st Half - The Harding Bisons were first to score with a layup. Northwestern's Ravel Moody quickly responded with a steal and layup quickly tying the game. Harding fired back with a deep three-pointer. Moody responded once more with a layup for The Rangers. The teams went point for point battling back and forth. A layup by Larry White left The Rangers trailing by one 7-6 at the first media timeout. 

Out of the commercial break, The Bison scored a jumper. Brain Free responded with a deep three-pointer from the wing. Moody would contribute with a three-pointer. Harding would answer back by firing off a three-pointer to tie the game at 12-12. Both teams battled back and forth struggling for the lead. Off the bench, Eric Hancik knocked down a layup to tie the game once more at 16-16 going into the second media timeout. 

The Bison scored out of the break with a put-back layup to put them ahead. They added an additional layup to extend their lead. A three-pointer by Bubba Furlong for Northwestern closed the gap on Harding. The Bison would respond with two free throws. Anthony Jones fired back by sinking two free throws for The Rangers. Malik Parsons completed a fast break dunk. Harding fired off a three-pointer to extend their lead to five points, 27-22. Free fired off a three-pointer for Northwestern to close the game on Harding once more. The Bisons responded with four consecutive free throws to hold their lead. Furlong responded with two points of his own. White contributed a steal and a dunk. Harding answered back with a layup and jumper to keep their lead going into the final media timeout 35-30. 

Out of the commercial break, Parsons contributed two free throws for Northwestern. Parsons also finished off a layup and a free throw for a three-point play leaving The Rangers trailing by two, 37-35. The Bison responded with a hook shot. Parsons answered back with a jumper. The Bisons scored a free throw. Free responded by sinking two free throws. Jones contributed a layup and free throw for a three-point play to close the gap on The Bison. A dribble-drive layup beating the Bisons down the floor by Jalen Smith at the buzzer tied the game 43-43 going into halftime. Parsons led in points for The Rangers with 11. Free and Furlong led in rebounds with 3 each. Free also led in assists with 3. 

2nd Half - Harding scored in the opening possession with a put back layup. Jones responded with a free throw for Northwestern. The Bisons answered back with a back-to-back layup and three pointer to take the lead early in the half. Furlong fired back with a layup for The Rangers, leaving them trailing 52-46 at the first media timeout. Out of the commercial break, White contributed a layup. Off the bench, Hancik fired off a three-pointer to close the gap. Harding answered back with a free throw to keep their lead. Parsons sunk two free throws to tie the game at 53-53 completing a 9-1 run for the Rangers.

A layup by Parsons put The Rangers ahead for the first time in the half. The Bison responded with two free throws. Hancik fired off a three-pointer for Northwestern. Parsons knocked down two free throws to extend The Ranger lead 60-55. A three-point play for Harding closed the gap on Northwestern. Furlong responded with a layup and jumper. The Bisons responded with two free throws, leaving them trailing by two 64-62 at the second commercial timeout.

Out of the break, White sank two free throws to extend The Ranger lead. The Bison responded with a layup. Parsons contributed a jumper for Northwestern. The Bisons fired back with a three-pointer. White answered back with a dribble-drive layup. The two teams battled back and forth offensively once more, both struggling to gain a comfortable lead. The Rangers held onto their lead 74-73 going into the third media timeout. 

Harding took the lead out of the break with a layup. Off the bench, Chance Love contributed a free throw for The Rangers to tie the game at 75-75. White contributed a jumper. The Bison responded with a three-pointer. White fired off a three-point play with a layup and free throw to tie the game at 80-80. Harding fired off a three-pointer. Free responded with a deep three for Northwestern. Jones sunk two free throws to keep the game tied 85-85. A layup by White put The Rangers in the lead going into the final media timeout 87-85. 

Out of the commercial break, Parsons contributed back-to-back layups to extend Northwestern's lead. Harding responded with a layup. Parsons sank two free throws to keep The Rangers ahead. The Bison responded with a three-point play to leave them trailing by one, 93-92. Free fired off a deep three and two free throws with a minute left in play to further Northwestern's lead. The Bison answered back with two free throws.

Jones finalized The Ranger win by sinking two free throws completing a 7-2 run to close the game, as Northwestern added to their win streak defeating Harding University 100-94. 

The Rangers look to pick up another conference win against The Crimson Storm Thursday night. Tip-off for the final home game of the season is set for 7:30 PM in Percefull Fieldhouse.
