Rangers Drop Game Three to the Muleriders

MAGNOLIA, ARK- Northwestern Oklahoma State Baseball closed out their weekend series against Southern Arkansas Sunday afternoon with a 13-2 loss. The Muleriders used a fast start jumping a head early on the Rangers with six runs in the oppening two innings and scoring in the first three innings of the game.
 

The Red-and-Black fell to 3-7 on the season with the Muleriders improving to 8-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference. 
 

Emilio Lovato pitched for the Rangers, starting in the series finale throwing 2.1 innings before being relieved by Connor Gibson and Edwin Colon. Lovato falls to 1-1 on the season with the loss.
 

Brandon Holdren and Chase Orrock drove in the Rangers only two runs on Sunday on four hits. The Rangers had four players with four hits which included Hayden Priest, Brandon Holderen, Blake Hoffman and Joseph Frisby. 
 

The Mulriders got things started early following the Rangers going down in order. Southern Arkansas would get a leadoff double and would later come around to score on an infield single bringing home the game's first run. 
 

Hayden Priest singled in the second but would be later caught stealing in the inning. Southern Arkansas in their half put a five spot on the board taking a 6-0 lead by inning end. After a leadoff double followed by two walks the home team had the bases loaded before a single and a 3-run home run pushed the lead to six.
 

Northwestern was able to get a runner in scoring position in the third but would not be able to score as the game remained 6-0 through the Rangers' half of the third. Southern Arkansas added four more in the third inning on three extra base hits including back-to-back triples. Runners on first and second a double would clear the bases for a 10-0 deficit for Northwestern.
 

The Rangers would plate their first run in the fifth inning trailing 13-0, Brett Erickson led the inning off with a walk before moving to second on a ground out. Holden singled bringing home Erickson.
 

Edwin Colon pitched a scoreless sixth inning before the Rangers would score another run in the seventh with Joseph Frisby scoring on a Chase Orrock fielder's choice with an error committed by the Muleriders second baseman. 
 

Southern Arkansas would escape further damage from Northwestern as the Rangers dropped the series to Southern Arkansas this weekend. The Rangers will be back in action Tuesday at 2:00 PM against Emporia State in Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium.
