Rangers Fall to Eagles Wednesday Afternoon

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA - The Rangers played a team game series doubleheader on Wednesday against Oklahoma Christian. The Eagles used a run in first before a five run sixth inning clinched the win for the Eagles. In game two of the afternoon Oklahoma Christian had a four run second and a three run third to jump out to a lead before closing out the 13-0 win. 

The loss drops the Rangers to 13-23-1 on the season overall as the Eagles move to 33-8 on the year.
 

GAME ONE:

The Eagles started fast in the opening game of the day after holding the Rangers scoreless in the top of the first inning. The Eagles drew a leadoff walk followed by a stolen base before a Walde double put them on the board for a 1-0 lead. 
 

Northwestern went down in order in the second before Howell did the same to the Eagles. In the third inning Oakley had the Rangers first hit before a double play ended the inning.
 

The game remained 1-0 in the fourth inning before the Eagles extended their lead. A leadoff single followed by a walk and a single loaded the bases with nobody out. Gamble hit an RBI groundout, before a Woodward single had Oklahoma Christian in the lead 3-0. A double steal pushed the Eagles lead to 4-0 before the Rangers ended the inning. 
 

Northwestern got their first run in the sixth inning after an Abby DeTar walk and Oakley reaching on an error. McElroy drove home Oakley after reaching on an error. 
 

Oklahoma Christian though struck in the sixth inning after a single a walk and a stolen base before a Hamilton RBI single made it 5-1. Brown walked with the bases loaded pushing across the sixth run of the afternoon. LaValley then drove home runs seven and eight with single before a Janzen RBI single won the game for the Eagles 9-1 in six innings. 
 

GAME TWO:
 

Northwestern pushed two runners on base in the first on two walks but were unable to move them to score as two were left on base. Vasquez followed by working around a walk and single leaving two Eagles on base for a 0-0 game after one. 
 

Oklahoma Christian's offense struck in the second inning as a leadoff single followed by a fielder's choice led to a Hamilton base-clearing triple for a 3-0 lead. Bain followed with a ground out to make it 4-0 over the Rangers. 
 

In the third inning the Eagles led off with a double by Brown before a Janzen triple pushed across the game's fifth run. With runners on second a third a Woodward sacrifice fly followed by a Hamilton single had the deficit at 7-0. 
 

In the fourth inning the Eagles continued to tack on runs as an Anderson sacrifice fly made it 8-0 followed by a triple and a single forced home runs nine and ten. A bases clearing double and a Bain single pushed the Eagles lead to 13-0 before the Rangers got out of the inning. 
 

In the fifth inning Northwestern had a single from Jill Bouse but that was all Northwestern could have as the Eagles went on for the 13-0 victory and the doubleheader sweep. 
 

Northwestern will return to action on Friday and Saturday opening a three game series against the Bisons of Harding. It will be a doubleheader Friday at 2/ 4 PM before a single game at Noon to close out the series.
