Rangers Complete Comeback Win Over Southern Arkansas

Alva, Oklahoma - The Rangers returned home to face off against Southern Arkansas and defeated the Muleriders 3-2. Addison Wimmer led the team with 18 kills. Cameron Lobb collected 41 assists and Andrea Coady accumulated 24 digs. This win advances The Rangers to a 4-2 conference record adn 12-6 on the season. 

Set One: 

The Lady Muleriders took an early lead forcing The Rangers into a timeout at 3-1. Courtney Russell broke the Southern Arkansas run with a kill. The Muleriders quickly responded with a kill. Tarra Parks contributed an ace serve to close the gap on Southern Arkansas 11-8. The Muleriders strung together a 3-0 run and back to back kills to lead Northwestern 18-12. Carmae Jones and Russell contributed a kill each. Southern Arkansas responded by pairing together two 3-0 runs to win the set 25-16. 

Set Two: 

The Rangers fought back in the second, starting the game with a 4-0 lead. Southern Arkansas responded with a 5-0 run to take the lead. Addison Wimmer contributed back to back kills. Ravyn Burns fired off a middle attack to regain the home court advantage for Northwestern 9-8. Both teams battled point for point reaching a stalemate. Jones contributed a kill. The Muleriders responded with a 4-1 run to re-establish their lead 21-16. Russell broke their run with a kill. Southern Arkansas strung together another 4-1 run to take the second set 25-18.

Set Three: 

Southern Arkansas came out of the gate with an early 6-0 run Wimmer ended their run with a kill. The Rangers proceeded to make an amazing 9-0 run and comeback to lead the game 9-6 stealing the momentum. Russell contributed back to back kills. Southern Arkansas broke Northwestern's run with a kill. Russell contributed back to back kills once more to further the Ranger lead 13-8. Parks fired off a deep corner kill. Wimmer forwarded Northwestern's lead with back to back kills, 19-15. The Muleriders responded with a late 6-0 run but it wasn't enough to overcome as Northwestern took the set 25-22. 

Set Four:

Both teams went point for point, struggling to take a lead in the fourth. Back to back kills from Wimmer forced Southern Arkansas into a timeout and captured Northwestern's lead 11-4. Southern Arkansas responded with a 3-0 run to close the gap. Burns and Jones contributed a kill each to hold onto the Rangers lead 13-11. Southern Arkansas responded with a kill. Parks contributed a kill and an ace to further Northwesterns lead 20-12. A late 3-0 run from the Muleriders allowed them to creep back in. Burns sealed Northwestern's victory with a middle attack 25-17. 

Set Five:

A back to back kill and ace serve allowed The Muleriders to lead 3-0 at the start of the fifth. The Rangers responded with a 3-0 run of their own to tie the game at 3-3. Wimmer contributed a tandem kill. The Muleriders responded with a kill. The game reached a stalemate tied at 7-7. Russell fired off a kill and an ace serve for Northwestern. Southern Arkansas fired off a kill to trail 11-13. Wimmer contributed back to back kills to extend the match into extra-points and allow the Rangers to clinch the victory 17-15. 

Northwestern Volleyball continues conference play at home against Arkansas Monticello tomorrow afternoon. The Rangers look to extend their winning streak against the Cotton Blossoms in Percefull Fieldhouse at 4 PM.
