Lady Rangers Set for Monday Night Conference Game vs. Southwestern

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Lady Rangers hit the road Monday for a conference game against Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs. This will be the first of two meetings against the rival. Northwestern looks to snap a four game losing streak. 

The Lady Rangers enter Monday 7-7 overall with a 3-7 Great American Conference record. Southwestern Oklahoma State enters with a 5-10 overall record with a 5-5 conference mark. 

Tip-off is set for 5:30 in Weatherford Oklahoma to open the season series. This will be the 23rd meeting between the two programs since 2013. Southwestern enters with a 19-3 record against the Lady Rangers winning nine of the last 10. The two teams split the season series last year as Northwestern won 79-68 in Alva before Southwestern took the meeting in Weatherford. Southwestern is 10-0 against the Rangers at home.

Northwestern's last time out dropped a close battle to the Bison after being tied 66-66 in the final minute Oklahoma Baptist hit two late foul shots to win 68-66. Lady Rangers were spread out scoring as four players reached double figures. Faith Simpson finished with her third double-double of the season. Carly Craig, Camille Thoams, and Talayah Thomas were the other three. 

The Red-and-Black are led by Faith Simpson on the season averaging 17.0 point a game. She is one of three players joined by Camille Thomas at 12.4 and Carly Craig with 11.4. Talayah Thomas has scored double figures in three straight games for Northwestern following her season high of 21 points against Ouachita Baptist. Craig leads the team with 77 assists this season with the next closest Talayah Thomas with 32. 

On the defensive side of the ball Simpson leads the Rangers with 36 steals along with 18 blocks on the season. The 36 steals are tied for the team high along with Carly Craig with 36 steals. Camille Thomas has 16 steals along with 6 blocks on the year. Simpson leads the team with 7.2 rebounds followed by Camille Thomas with 7.0 rebounds. 

Southwestern Oklahoma State: 

The Lady Bulldogs enter Monday evening on a two game win streak after a road victory over Oklahoma Baptist followed by a home victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State. Southwestern comes in winning three straight at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center with a 4-3 record overall at home. 

Southwestern is led by Averi Zinn as one of three players averaging double figures for first year head coach Jeff Zinn. Averi averages 15.6 points per game along with Morgan Smith and Macy Gore joining her in double figures.Smith averages 13.7 points per game and Gore with 10.3 points. Gore leads the team with 61 assists this season followed by Zinn with 52.

On defense the Bulldogs are led by Zinn with 31 steals followed by Gore with 24. Morgan Smith leads with seven blocks on the year. Shamica Smith leads with 7.5 rebounds followed by Morgan Smith with 3.9 rebounds per game
