ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State returns home Thursday evening for a home conference game against Harding University. The Lady Rangers will look to snap a five game losing streak Thursday in the first of two meeting against the Lady Bisons.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM as the two teams play game two of a three game week. Northwestern enters 7-8 overall this season with a 3-8 Great American Conference record. Harding enters this evening with a 14-4 overall record and 10-1 in the GAC. Northwestern is 6-3 on their home court.
This will be the 20th meeting between the two programs dating back to 2013 when these two teams met for the first time. Overall Harding leads the series history 18-1. Northwestern won the last meeting in Alva 65-63 after losing the first meeting last season in Searcy Arkansas. Overall Harding won the season series 2-1 after a win in Shawnee. The Lady Rangers enter with a 1-8 record in Alva against the Lady Bisons.
The Lady Rangers last time out was in Weatherford, Oklahoma against Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Red-and-Black were led by Faith Simpson with 23 points, one of two double figures joined by Talayah Thomas with 12 in a 77-60 loss to the Bulldogs.Â
Overall on the season Northwestern is led by Faith Simpson as she has led the Lady Rangers averaging 17.5 points per game, one of three players averaging double figures this season. She is joined by Carly Craig at 10.7 points per game and Camille Thomas with 11.9. Talayah Thomas has scored double figures in four straight games bringing her average to 7.9 per game this season. Craig leads the team with 77 assists this season running the offense followed by Talayah Thomas with 34.
The Lady Rangers defense is led by Simpson leading the team in both steals on the season with 36 this year in 13 games along with 21 blocks. Craig is tied for the team lead with 36 steals this season and Talayah Thomas has 32. Camille Thomas is second in blocks with six.Â
Harding Lady Bisons:Â
The Lady Bisons enter play on Thursday with a 7-2 road record this season and on a five game win streak following a Monday victory over Arkansas Tech. In the win they were led by Sage Hawley with 21 points and 13 rebounds one of two players to finish with a double-double along with Jacie Evans with 17 points and 12 rebounds.Â
On the year Hawley leads the team with 19.7 points per game, one of four players averaging double figures along with Jacie Evans, Aubrey Isbell, and Rory Geer. Evans at 13.7 points, Isbell 11.0 points and Geer with 10.5 points per game. Evans leads the team with 60 assists this year followed by Hawley with 45.Â
Defensively the team is led by Hawley with a team high 38 blocks along with 19 steals. Evans leads the team in steals with 29 this year followed by Geer with 22. Rebounding Hawley leads the team with 10.8 averaging double-doubles this season.
