ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Basketball is set to tip-off at 1:00 PM against Arkansas Monticello Saturday afternoon on January 7th. This will conclude three straight home games for the Lady Rangers which the team is currently 1-1 through the opening two.
The Lady Rangers enter play with a 6-3 overall record and a 2-3 Great American Conference record. With the Blossoms coming to Alva with a 4-7 overall record and a 1-4 GAC mark.
This will be the 19th meeting between the Blossoms and Lady Rangers. Northwestern hold a 10-8 advantage over Arkansas Monticello after sweeping last year's season series and winning three straight. Northwestern has won four of the last five in Alva.
Northwestern Oklahoma State lost their last game on Thursday evening to Southern Arkansas 68-62. In the loss the Lady Rangers were led by Camille Thomas and Nikya Orange. Thomas finished with a game high 25 points followed by Orange with a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in her first start of the season.
Overall on the season the Lady Rangers are led by Faith Simpson scoring 17.6 points per game while adding 7.5 rebounds both team highs. Thomas is second on the team in scoring with 11.9 points per game, and Carly Craig the third Lady Ranger averaging double figures with 11.1 points a game. Craig leads the team with 57 assists on the season running the Lady Ranger offense.
On the defensive side Simpson leads the team with 28 steals followed by Craig with 23 and Talayah Thomas with 19 steals. Simpson and Camille Thomas lead the team with blocks at eight and five each.
Arkansas Monticello:
The Blossoms enter Saturday afternoon 2-3 in their last five games after dropping their Thursday evening game to Southwestern Oklahoma State 78-68. In the loss Joi Montgomery led the team with 21 points.
On the season the Blossoms are led by two scorers over double figures in Bailey Harris averaging 14.6 points a game followed by Montgomery with 12.4 points a game. Arkansas Monticello has six players with at least 10 assists. They are led by Montgomery with 15 assists this season.
The Defensive side of the floor Arkansas Monticello is led in steals by Laia Balcells with 13 closely followed by Bailey Harris with 12. Cyarah Kensmil has 11 blocks this season to lead Arkansas Monticello.
