ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State returned home Saturday after two straight games on the road. Northwestern honored their 10 seniors before the conference match-up. The two teams battled through the two halves but neither could find the back of the net ending in a scoreless tie.
In the opening half the Ranger defense was able to slow down the Bison attack as Ranger goalkeeper Maggie Koster finished the half with four saves. Oklahoma Baptist out of the start was quick to the attack with a shot on goal in the opening minutes of the game but Koster was there to save it. The Rangers scoring opportunity happened midway point of the first half as after a shot was blocked Faith Nino had her shot blocked by Mia Pendleton keeping the game scoreless. The two defenses continued to control the game as at the break the score remained 0-0 through one.
The second half Oklahoma Baptist had back to back shots in the opening couple minutes but the one was blocked before the second off target. The Bison tried to continue to add pressure to the Rangers as a few moments later missed a shot wide left. Koster kept the game scoreless following back to back saves in the 60 minute mark. Anderson went back with a scoring opportunity but her shot was saved. IN the back half of the second half Oklahoma Baptist looked to get the game's first score but Koster had two more big saves, first a diving attempt before sending a high shot blocked up the net.
Overall Koster finished the game with 11 saves stopping all 11 that came her way. Overall the Bison led in shots 23-6 over the Rangers. Ultimately though the game ended in a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon.
Northwestern is home again on Wednesday afternoon against Ouachita Baptist with a 4:00 PM kickoff.
