Orange Finishes with Double-Double in Win Over Aggies

GOODWELL, OKLAHOMA - The Lady Rangers traveled to Goodwell, Oklahoma Friday for a non-conference match-up against the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State. Northwestern continued a hot start to the season for their third double digit victory in four games this season. 

Northwestern moves to 4-0 on the season following a 99-50 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. 

The Lady Rangers were led by five different scorers in double figures. Carly Craig and Syncere Harrod led the way with 13 points each. Payton Jones and Camille Thomas had 12 and 11 points while Nikya Orange picked up a double-double with a 10 point 13 rebounding effort for the Rangers. Craig had five assists to lead the team. The Lady Ranger defense forced 19 steals including four from Payton Jones to lead the team. 

FIRST QUARTER: 

Paige Scott started the scoring for the Rangers hitting the first shot of the game after an offensive rebound. This was the first of six straight points as Payton Jones picked up a steal starting a break as Craig hit a three pointer assisted by Simpson. Northwestern opened the game on an 18-2 run started on the defensive side of the floor with six turnovers. This helped the Rangers get off to the 16 point lead capitalizing on offense shooting 7 of 9 from the floor with three 3-pointers. Craig led the way with eight early points on the run. Northwestern allowed two points in the opening six minutes of the game. The Red-and-Black continued their hot start opening a 25-4 lead over the Aggies on the road. Josena Frame scored five points quickly off the bench with a layup followed by a three pointer for a 28-6 lead. Summya Adigun finished a layup at the buzzer for a 35-12 lead at the end of the quarter. 

SECOND QUARTER:

The Rangers continued to add to their lead to start the second quarter after Camille Thomas and Faith Simpson hit back to back baskets for the first four points of the quarter as the Lady Ranger defense again held the home team scoreless for a three minute stretch. After two points from Oklahoma Panhandle the Lady Rangers pushed the lead past thirty following a three pointer from Payton Jones for her seventh point of the game and a 46-14 lead. The Rangers then hit back to back three pointers, one from Jones followed by Talayah Thomas. Northwestern closed the first half with a 58-20 lead following a jump shot by Camille Thomas, her seventh point of the game. Craig led the Rangers with 13 points and Payton Jones with 10 for two Rangers in double figures at the break. 

THIRD QUARTER:

The opening minutes of the third quarter the Lady Rangers continued where the team left off with the first six points of the half including four from Camille Thomas to give her 11 points. After the Aggies had their first points, Nikya Orange answered on the next possession getting the points back starting the next Ranger run. Syncere Harrod led the way for the Lady Rangers in the third quarter with eight points in the quarter. The Rangers pushed the lead to 50 following Talayah Thomas' second three pointer of the game for a 79-29 lead. Northwestern held a 81-32 advantage after the Aggies hit a buzzer beater three from Sydnei Collier in the final seconds. 

FOURTH QUARTER: 

The Aggies had the first five points of the quarter before Syncere Harrod had the Rangers first point of the quarter from the foul line. Kynsey Dixon knocked down down her first shot of the evening assisted from Chrissen Harland, followed by a Harland layup as the Lady Rangers led 87-39 at the 6:20 mark of the final quarter. Mia Jones pushed the Lady Rangers over the 90 point mark with an offensive rebound put back to give Northwestern a 91-44 lead. Chrissen Harland scored four straight points for the Lady Rangers before Nikya Orange hit a layup for her 10th point of the night completing the double-double effort Friday evening. The Lady Rangers closed out the 99-50 victory over the Aggies. 

Next for the Lady Rangers is a trip to Hawaii for two games in Honolulu against Chaminade and Stanislaus State on November 24th and 25th for the final games before the conference season begins.
