Rangers Jump Out Early in Win over Northwest Missouri

ALVA, OKLAHOMA- Northwestern Oklahoma State jumped out early in their third straight win versus Northwest Missouri in the midst of four-game series.The Rangers used four runs in the first two inning scoring two in each inning and never trailing in the win.

This win now has made NWOSU have a winning record of 4-3. Today was a great day for the Rangers at the plate, scoring 10 runs off of 14 hits. There were three home runs in this game one each by Trevor Saire, Colby Grace, and John Shaffer. Shaffer and Saire also had 3 RBI's in this game out of the 10 made this afternoon.

Jacob Shaw won on the mound today, improving his pitching record 1-0 this season. Kyle Gscheidle and Max McClain had both struck out 2 batters each as well, all pitching in relief this game. Max McClain closed out the game throwing the final two innings.

Beginning the game, Shaughn Kelly was walked to first base, and was batted home thanks to a single to left field made by Hagen Barcello. With the bases loaded, Shaffer was able to earn his first RBI with hit out into right field. These runs put the Rangers in the lead 2-0 at the end of the first inning.

Opening the second inning for Northwestern Oklahoma State, Trevor Beiswanger hit a ball into left field for a single. Kelly followed with an RBI triple into right center sending him home for another run! Kelly was able to score thanks to RBI sacrifice fly from Barcello for a 4-0 lead.

After scoreless third and fourth innings, Grace hit homerun out of the park. This was the first of the three homeruns made today for the Rangers for a 5-0 lead.

The offense continued to strike in the sixth on a Trevor Saire hitting a homerun scoring three runs as he sent Kelly and Trevor Stiles to scoreas the Rangers led 8-2 through six innings.

Northwest Missouri State added a run in the seventh inning before Northwestern extended the lead on a Shaffer homerun bringing the score 9-2 heading into the 8th inning.

Following a three run eighth inning for Northwest Missouri St. the Rangers were able to answer back with one more run in the game as following a Barcello single and stolen base Shaffer singled to left field scoring Barcello for a 10-5 lead over the Bearcats. McClain was able to close out the ninth inning with a scoreless frame completing his second inning of work.

The 4-day series will be ending tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM at Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium, as the Rangers look for the fifth straight win over the seaosn.
