ALVA, OKLAHOMA- Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Basketball looks to build momentum off of their win over Henderson State this past Saturday. The Lady Rangers split their week 1-1 with a loss to Ouachita Baptist.
Northwestern trails the series history 3-20 overall and holds a 3-8 record at home against the Bulldogs. Northwestern split the season series last season as the Lady Rangers look to do the same with a win Monday evening. Southwestern took the first meeting 77-60 over the Lady Rangers. Faith Simpson finished with 23 points followed by Talayah Thomas with 12 points.
Faith Simpson leads the Rangers in scoring with 17.4 points per game as one of three double figure scorers joined by Camille Thomas at 12.5 and Carly Craig at 10.7 points a game. Craig leads the team in assists at 101 with the next closest Talayah Thomas with 41.
Defensively the Rangers are led by Faith Simpson with team leads in both blocks and steals with 48 steals and 23 blocks on the year. Craig is the next closest in steals with 46. Nikya Orange and Camille Thomas each have seven blocks.
SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE:
The Bulldogs are coming off a split week like the Rangers winning their last game on Saturday afternoon agaisnt Ouachita Baptist 70-65, and a loss to Henderson State 62-57. Southwestern is 7-10 overall in the conference and comes in with a 1-8 record on the road.
The Bulldogs are led this season by Averi Zinn averaging 15.1 points per game followed by Morgan Smith with 13.6 and Macy Gore at 10.3 per game. The team is led in assists by two individuals each at 78 on the season which are Zinn and Macy Gore running the offense.
Defensively Southwestern is led by Morgan Smith with 27 steals and 10 blocks as the only player on the team with double digits in both. Averi Zinn leads the team with 49 steals on the season followed by Gore with 40. Smith leads in blocks with 10.
