Ranger Softball Closes Win over Arkansas Monticello to End Series

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Ranger Softball team closed out their three game series against Arkansas Monticello with a 6-2 victory over the Blossoms. Rangers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first before opening a 3-0 lead and closing out a 6-2 victory.

Northwestern was led offensively by Macy Spearman going 3-3 with a walk and 3-RBIs in the game. Hannah Howell matched with 3-RBIs going 3-4 and throwing a complete game with 7ks picking up her sixth victory of the season.

After, Hannah Howell struck out the side to start the game in the first inning before Spearman led the bottom of the inning off with a walk. Howell later drove her home with an RBI double to right center field, scoring Spearman for a 1-0 early lead.

Howell held the Blossoms hitless in the second inning and the third. Monticello did have a runner reach on an error but she was caught stealing as Anderson threw her out at second. Spearman singled back up the middle to start the inning. She came around to score again on a hit by Howell for her second run scored and Howell's second RBI. Rangers led 2-0 through the first three innings.

Howell had a perfect fourth inning before Rangers extended their lead in their half of the inning. Jaci Oakley started the rally with a single before Winters reached on a fielder's choice before stealing second. This led to Spearman hitting an RBI single back up the middle for a 3-0 lead.

Arkansas Monticello struck in the sixth with their first two runs of the game as a single and double to start the inning led to an RBI single by Gardiner. A double by Cox scored the second run to cut the Ranger lead to 3-2.

Northwestern answered back in the bottom of the sixth inning. After a single by Oakley and a double by Winters, a 2-RBI single by Spearman pushed the lead to 5-2. The Ranger's sixth run scored on a Howell single to left field, scoring Spearman.

Rangers led 6-2 heading into the final inning as Howell closed out the complete game win and series finale victory picking up her seventh strikeout and working around a double.
