DURANT, OKLAHOMA- Lady Rangers were able to secure the ending series win against the Savage Storm of Southeastern 3-2. This game was moved earlier in the morning at 10:00am due to stormy weather predicted for the afternoon. Hannah Howell earned her third win of the season following a complete game throwing seven innings allowing two runs however zero were earned runs allowed. She picked up three strikeouts in the win.
This win was possible thanks to center fielder Macy Spearman's homer batted in the top of the seventh inning, breaking the Savage Storm's lead. Her home run resulted in two RBI's, pushing the Rangers in front on the scoreboard 3-2 to seal the win. This was the only home run hit within the series!
Hannah Howell and Mackenzie Adams led the team with two hits each as Spearman had two RBIs and Adams with one. The runs were scored by Spearman, Howell, and Avery Tittle.
Both teams went in order to begin the game, noting that Howell struck out her first batter of the day on their third out. Laney Anderson earned the first hit of the game for either team, singling through the left side and advancing to second off a sacrifice bunt hit by shortstop Megan Kennedy. Mackenzie Adams received the second hit of the game hitting one back up the middle. With Anderson on third, Northwestern fell short to score during the second inning with two strikeouts.
An RBI single into left field was hit by the fifth-hole batter putting Southeastern in the lead 1-0, as they were able to secure bases loaded off a walk and fielding error made by Northwestern.
An uneventful third inning occurred, with no hits or runs made, just a walk by Southeastern, advancing to second off a sacrifice bunt but short to score.
First run of the game for the Rangers was hit by Adams, with two outs in the fourth inning. She hit double into right center that sent Howell home after her single to the same spot on the field. This tied the score 1-1.
Southeastern answered back with an unearned run off an error, but Northwestern was still making a defensive stance regardless of the 2-1 score. The fifth inning went in order for both teams again, before the Rangers fell short in the sixth inning.
The Rangers came up big in the seventh inning as with one out Avery Tittle had a pinch hit single with one out. This helped setup the two out blast by Spearman to left center field to give the Rangers the 3-2 lead. Howell finished off the comeback victory and complete game start with three straight outs on two ground outs and a fly out.
Rangers will return home, hosting East Central's Tigers on Thursday April 6th. This Easter weekend's games will be played Thursday evening and Friday afternoon, with the first pitch thrown at 5:00pm Thursday.
