ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Director of Athletics Brad Franz has announced the hiring of Gretchen Jones as the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Services.
Jones is set to take the position starting on July 15th for Jeremy Jones after he has taken a position as the new head Girl's Basketball Coach at Alva High School.
Jones comes to Northwestern after working with Layton Christian Academy since 2019 where she oversaw all International Admissions and F1 Visa's which included the invoicing and inquiries. In addition to her work at Layton Christian Academy Jones was a 7th and 8th Grade teacher from 2021-2022.
She has six years of coaching experience where she started coaching the Alva 7th/8th grade girls basketball team as the head coach in 2022. She was the Middle school head coach at Layton Christian Academy from 2019-2022 along with the Freshman Girls Basketball Coach / high school Girls Assistant Basketball coach. Prior to Layton Christian she was the assistant coach at Malad High School from 2016-2019.
Stated Athletic Director Brad Franz, "Gretchen is a tremendous hire for us in this role. Her background and experience in Student Services fit very well in this role. She understands coaching and the rigors of it and has excellent management skills to help todays student. We are excited to have her on board helping us achieve our goals."
Jones returns to Alva and Northwestern as she worked as a Residence Hall Supervisor from 2011-2016. Jones graduated from Northwestern with a degree in Health and Sports Science.
