Rangers Have 110 Athletes Qualify for Academic All-Conference Honors

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - On Monday afternoon the Great American Conference released their Academic All-Conference honors. This year set a new GAC record with 1,380 students earning this honor.
 
Northwestern was fourth in the conference for most on the All-Academic list. The Rangers finished with 110 athletes qualifying for this mark which is the highest number in school history. They finished only behind Harding University, Southern Nazarene and Ouachita Baptist University.  The Rangers were led by Baseball and Soccer leading their respective sports.
 
Stated athletic Director Brad Franz, "This again shows the excellent work in the classroom by our student-athletes.  I am very pleased with these results and commend our coaches and the student-athletes for their work.  Our faculty is tremendous and I am so appreciative of their work in teaching our students."
 
According to the conference release GAC football student-athletes finished with the most All-Academic selections, 282, followed by 202 from baseball, 156 in softball and 102 from women's track & field.
 
For student-athletes to be recognized on the Academic All-Conference team, they must have enrolled as freshmen prior to the fall of 2022. In addition, their grade-point average must be a minimum of 3.30 based on the 4.0 system. The GPA shall be cumulative for the athlete's entire collegiate career.
