PUEBLO, COLORADO- The Rangers suffered a devastating last minute loss to Colorado State Pueblo on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers played a hard-fought game after a long road trip to concede a goal in the final 40 seconds of the game, resulting in a 1-0 final score. The game winner was scored by CSU Pueblo's midfielder Drew Morby.
With the loss, the Ranger soccer team falls to 1-3-2 on the season as they wrap up their non-conference portion of their schedule.
The Ranger defense, led by Taylor Songster and Kaitlyn Morphy, played a strong game as they thwarted several CSU Pueblo opportunities throughout the afternoon. Goalkeeper Rachel Brown made seven saves to keep the Rangers in the game as they were out shot 15-2 on the day including 8-2 on goal.
Ranger captain Callie Haneborg played a great game contributing on both ends of the pitch. Her energy led the Rangers as they battled both the Wolfpack through the afternoon.
The pair of Ranger shots on the day, both on goal, were produced by leading scorer Isabella Mcmillan and Lily Anderson. Anderson's opportunity came in the 74th minute and Mcmillan's in the 83rd minute as the Rangers played a strong 2nd half.
In the second half the Rangers were able to limit the Wolfpack's opportunities after allowing 10 first half shots to just five in the second half.
The Rangers will be back on the pitch to begin conference play against Southwestern this Wednesday and hit the road for their first away game of conference play against Southern Nazarene University on Saturday.
