ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Rangers fought in a tough battle against Harding Saturday morning. The match ended in a tie 1-1. Harding scored the first goal of the game at the 23rd minute mark of the first half but Lily Anderson answered the Bisons at the 75th minute mark of the game scoring her first goal of the season.
After today's game Rangers move to 1-4-5 for the season and Bisons to 2-4-4.
Rachel Brown had seven saves in today's game. Isabella McMillan had three attempted shots and Lily Anderson had two and made one goal being the tying goal.
The first shot of the game was unsuccessful by Harding's Regan Thompson at the 6th minute of the first half. The second shot was saved by the Goalkeeper Rachel Brown at the ninth minute on a diving attempt denying the shot from Harding's Kim Barcenas. The first opportunity for the Northwestern Rangers was at the 16th minute by Isabella McMillan but was saved by Harding's goalkeeper.
First goal went in on the 23rd minute mark by Natalie Gomez assisted by Bailey Bulliner which put Harding in the lead.Harding took advantage after keeping the ball on their half of the field shooting from far out. Lily Anderson tried to get the first goal but went over the top bar in the last 20 seconds of the first half.
Harding led Northwestern 1-0 at halftime.
2nd Half
The Rangers started off the half by starting quick with two shots on goal both being saved by Maysa Willis from Mcmillan and Victoria Ruvalcaba. Rachel Brown had another great save at the 55th minute of the game to keep the Rangers down one. In the 75th minute the midfielder Lilly Anderson scored her first goal of the season for the Rangers, after keeping the ball on the Ranger side off a deflection before sending the shot into the back of the net with the left foot. Harding tried to get back at Northwestern in the last 5 minutes of the game from the corner kick which led to an unsuccessful shot from Regan Thompson saved by Brown holding down the tie for the Rangers.
Rangers will be back in action on the road traveling to Ada, OK on October 7th to face East Central University at 11:00AM.
